Meet Isaura Villalba | Singer & Songwriter
We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaura Villalba and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isaura, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Be delusional. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one will.” One of my close friends in the music industry told me this when I first started making music. I was really unsure of myself and felt like I wasn’t good enough. It’s something I have to remind myself when I’m feeling down.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a singer/songwriter from San Diego, CA. I started off singing in my choir during high school, and then transitioned into songwriting and recording my songs after COVID began. Transitioning into music was difficult because I was challenging myself to do something I had never done before because I was too afraid to fail. After taking the chance to pursue music, I’ve fallen in love with the process and know this is my true passion. My music is influenced by early 2000’s R&B and pop, however, I love to blend multiple genres and show off my versatility as an artist. My music is vulnerable, relatable, and fun. I want people of all types to be able to enjoy my music and feel less alone.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my best friend to eat in Little Italy and definitely take them to windansea or sunset cliffs (an SD staple) to catch the sunset. After dark hours will definitely be spent in gaslamp to dance and grab drinks! Sidebar or Onyx are definitely the move and will probably end up at Tacos El Gordo afterwards. Next morning will be spent at Pho Van to recover and then might go to PB to day drink or go to fashion valley for some shopping!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my boyfriend, Elias, who has been extremely supportive of all of my dreams and efforts. He has been hear every step of the way since day 1 and always encourages me to keep going.
