How do you think about work-life balance?

By far the most common conversation we have with the folks we interview is about work-life balance. Starting a business or pursuing a creative career makes finding work life balance really tough because there is no clear start and end to one’s work day. We’ve shared some of our conversations on the topic below.

Girl Power! Just kidding (kinda). If I’m forced to choose just one, I’d say the most important success factor thus far has been obtaining a deep understanding of our clients’ objectives and preferences so we can provide solutions that really resonate with their vision. By actively involving them in the creative process, we not only meet their expectations but often exceed them. Our customer-centric approach has led to positive word-of-mouth, repeat business, and a strong reputation. An ability to deliver tailored solutions that fit various budgets, timelines, groups and venues has helped us win new clients and build our portfolio. Whether it’s an escape room themed wedding, murder mystery dinner, or immersive tabletop game, we enjoy collaborating with our clients to create something completely unique just for them! Building something different for each new project means living outside of our comfort zone and consistently growing our skill set. Will we ever standardize our offerings in the future in order to scale up the business? Maybe. I envision Shine On growing like a tree, with multiple branches…commercialized puzzle game products, plug-and-play activities that can be personalized for a variety of celebrations and events, while continuing to grow our core business of customized immersive experiences. We have a vibrant community of passionate reenactors and educators who are dedicated to creating a fun and enlightening experience for our guests. We also have the only permanently built Renaissance Village in California. From the ground up our event is a collaborative endeavor with a lot of groups and individuals cooperating to create an experience that would be impossible if it was completely centrally planned.
