Meet Britt Berliere | Rock In:flux Podcast Creator and Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Britt Berliere and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Britt, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from West Chester, Pennsylvania which is a suburb of Philadelphia. I grew up around music as my dad was in bands and had a vast record collection so it was something that I loved at an early age. Growing up in the 90’s gave me a lot of exposure to the great 80’s new wave bands that were still heavily played on the radio along with all the classic grunge and alternative bands that came out of that era. It combined to essentially create the genres I tend to lean toward and focus on for Rock In:flux.
That early love of music is a large part of why I created Rock In:flux and what motivates me to continue to find new bands and artists in order to support their music and share it with others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the creator and host of the Rock In:flux Podcast. While there are thousands of podcasts in the world today, Rock In:flux sets itself apart by curating interviews and conversations with bands and artists in the new wave, alt rock, and dark wave genres. It also focuses on allowing the musicians on the show to really explain their creative process, their experiences, and their thoughts without the pretension that can sometimes accompany music journalism.
It is a podcast for the musician first. I think I am most proud of that and the fact that the artists and bands who have appeared on the show so far are extremely supportive and confirm they feel the show puts them first.
What was the hardest part of starting the project? Was there a learning curve or did it come easily?
It wasn’t easy but I find with anything new getting started is the hardest part. It’s important to put the time and effort in to create the best quality product you can, and also to put yourself out there and reach out to potential guests, even if you think they won’t respond or say no.
There is always a learning curve, but it’s important to learn from your mistakes and use them to improve instead of allowing them to discourage you. For me, finding the right tools to create the best content was a challenge. I utilized the knowledge of some friends and research to find the best podcast recording platform and equipment in order to improve the show.
What do you want people to know about Rock In:flux?
I think what I would want the world to know is that Rock In:flux isn’t just about rock music or a subgenre of rock music. It’s about supporting and sharing the work of bands and artists who put great music into the world. It’s about walking your own path, staying true to yourself, and not caring what others may say or think about you. That is rock n’ roll.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be who I am today without my family and friends. They always supported and encouraged my love of music and the creation of rockinflux.com and its podcast.
