We had the good fortune of connecting with Noemi Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noemi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Starting a business calls for sacrifices, dedication, commitment, and lots of passion. It’s never easy. It is a love and hate relationship with the business. Picture a roller coaster, seeing it go all over the place but still trying to have fun and enjoy the process. It all started from a little girls dream. A little girl who woke up every morning between 3-4 am with her mother to go save a street spot at the sobre ruedas, the street swap meet, to sell used shoes in order to be able to afford one or two eggs for later that morning. The fear of knowing I might not be able to eat that day, the sadness of waking up carrying heavy items trying to help your mother to go and earn just a little bit of change. As an 8 year and being the oldest of 5 I felt lonely, disappointed and so confused as to why my mom, a single parent, who was a hard worker, early riser, and a lover of God had to suffer so much with her kids. Also not know why we had to suffer so much. I dreamed of one day owning my own business and being able to earn enough for my self and to help my family and bring food home. A dream to one day be able to say I am proud of myself and I own something that I can call mine and have the freedom to be with family and not worry about having food for the day. I went from swap meets to retail to delivering medical equipment for an ambulance company, but my dream never disappeared. While on maternity leave after having my second child I finally decided now was the time to fulfill my life long dream and become a business owner. I gathered what money I had saved and bought 2 bounce houses to rent out. I remember as a child helping my uncle with his jumper business and knew that that could be me in the future.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Here at La Familia Jumpers we are your friendly neighborhood experts in exceptional service and community care! What sets us apart is that we treat every event as if it was our own. As a Latina owner and daughter of a single mom and being a single parent in the past, I learned the importance of always serving with love and unmatched dedication. The most exciting part of the business is having my husband and kids support at nights when I feel like giving up. The love that they show by going to deliveries or cleaning with me when I need the help. The excitement of knowing that one day our kids will look back and be proud of not only themselves but also their parents for not giving up easily when things got difficult. It has not been a smooth road but I’m so grateful and thankful to God for my journey to try to find the beauty in those hardest moments, to remind myself to love every step of the way. Because these are the moments that make us stronger, smarter and more resilient. Along the way I’ve learned to not be afraid to speak up, to ask for help and to share my very own story. There will be someone out there who needs to hear your story to know they are not alone in the way they are feeling. I searched for groups that teach growth, love and support and lift you up. A community where I felt heard. I found God and I hold on to him when I feel like I can’t move anymore. You, reader, smile and never give up! No dream is too big no dream is too small. Lift your head up high no matter how hard it seems to get! I want the world to know that Noemi, the jumper lady owner of La Familia Jumpers, never gave up on her dream. And just how she worked hard for her dream she also works hard to provide exceptional service. My love and dedication goes to serving the community.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First things first I give thanks to God for letting me be here where I am in life right now. Thank you to the family, friends, mentors, my mama, brothers and sisters. My children and my partner, friend my hero and husband, who always tells me what I need to hear and not what I want to hear. Thank you because it hasn’t been an easy road but you always show me and our kids unconditional love. Thank you my love for supporting me in my dreams and adventures. Thank you to you all who have supported me from close and a far.
