We had the good fortune of connecting with Soumaya and Assia Bayoud and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Soumaya and Assia, why did you pursue a creative career?
We pursue artistic and creative career because we are passionate about expressing ourselves through art and creating something new and unique. We find fulfillment and purpose in pursuing such a creative career, as we are able to use our talents to make a positive impact on the world and inspire others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an interior architecture students at Columbia College Chicago, we are constantly learning and growing in our understanding of design principles and technical skills. We are passionate about creating functional, beautiful spaces that meet the needs of the people who use them. To be a successful interior architecture student and architect, one needs a combination of design skills, technical knowledge, creativity, attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively. While the path to becoming an interior architect may have its challenges, with hard work, dedication, and a willingness to continually learn and grow, it is possible to build a fulfilling and rewarding career in this exciting and dynamic field.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since Chicago is one of the most beautiful cities in the world there’s so much to see and do. And if our best friend is visiting for a week, here is a sample itinerary of some of the places and things we would check out:

Day 1:

– Arrival and check-in at a hotel in the downtown area
– Lunch at Lou Malnati’s for some famous deep-dish pizza
– Visit Millennium Park to see the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture (aka “The Bean”)
– Take a stroll along the Chicago Riverwalk and grab a drink at one of the many outdoor bars
– Dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in the city “Avli on the park” for some delicious meals and great atmosphere.

Day 2:

– Start the day with breakfast at egg harbor cafe for some amazing pancakes and other breakfast dishes.
– Visit the Art Institute of Chicago to see one of the world’s greatest art collections.
– Grab a cup of coffee along with some sweets at the world’s larget Starbucks.
– Walk around the Gold Coast area for some window shopping by the most luxurious designers.
– Dinner at Fig & Olive for an unforgettable fine dining experience.

Day 3:

– Brunch at hampton social for creative twists on classic breakfast dishes.
-Take a bike ride along the lakefront path and stop at North Avenue Beach for some sun and sand.
– Head to Navy Pier for a ride on the Ferris wheel and other carnival attractions.
– Dinner at the iconic Gibsons Steakhouse for some of the best steak in the city.

Day 4:

For day 4 we’re gonna have to drive to the suburbs by the Bridgeview area for some Mediterranean flavors. We’ll explore the area, shop, eat and repeat hahah.

Day 5:

– Start the day with a pastry from the world-famous bakery, The Doughnut Vault.
– Take a boat tour of the city’s architecture along the Chicago River
Visit the Shedd Aquarium to see an incredible variety of marine life.
– Dinner at the x pot chicago for an immersive dining experience.

Day 6:

– Brunch at Yolk for more breakfast favorites.
– Visit the Lincoln Park Zoo for a fun and free way to see some amazing animals
– Dinner at tzuco chicago for upscale Mexican cuisine.

Day 7:

– Grab a final breakfast at D4 Irish Pub & Cafe.
– Check out the incredible views from the Willis Tower Skydeck.
– Shop along the Magnificent Mile for high-end retailers and luxury brands
Final dinner at Spiaggia for Italian fine dining.

Of course, this is just some of many amazing things to do and places to visit in Chicago. The city has so much to offer and there’s always something new to discover.
