Meet Naro Guardado | Writer & Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Naro Guardado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Naro, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success may sound very simple, getting started. I believe that far too often, we as people, set up obstacles that get in our own way. If you have a great idea, flesh it out. If you want to create something, use what you have and get started. If you set yourself up with obstacles like, “I can’t film that project until I get that new camera.” or “I can’t write that script because I don’t fully understand dialogue.” you will always be waiting. I started by learning to use what was available to me and giving myself deadlines.
Get out of your own way and execute what you want to create.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve definitely found my creative voice and if you were to read my scripts, watch my films, even music videos I think you can get a sense of my style. As of right now, I’m most proud of a horror short film I wrote titled “Bone”. I’m really excited about this project and currently in pre-production. I’m where I’m at today simply due to this burning passion I’ve had for film since I was about 8-years-old. Once the fire was lit, it never went out.
Every project has its challenges but where there are challenges, there are opportunities for solutions. I’ve definitely learned that it’s important to be persistent in seeing the completion of any idea that gets me excited.
I’m not too concerned with what the world will know about me, rather I’d like people to experience my work and find something that resonates with them or discover something new about themselves.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Whether I’m making a music video, advertisement, or filming a life event, it’s exceptionally humbling when a client entrust me with creating a project for them. I’m truly grateful for everyone who takes the time to work with me from concept to post-production and beyond. I’m especially thankful for the undying support of my wife, Trisha Guardado, who has always believed in me and my journey as a filmmaker.
