Through our work we have had the good fortune of seeing firsthand how success comes in every shape, size, color, faith, and orientation. More importantly we’ve learned that success is often the result of people embracing their unique backgrounds and so we’ve asked the community to tell us about their background and how it has impacted where they are today.

I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina with a Latinx/Asian ethnic background. When I graduated from high school, I took a big step and moved to the United States to pursue my college education. As you may imagine, it took some time to adjust as the cultures are very different. I did not know a single person in San Diego prior to moving here, so I was very scared. This, however, taught me that broadening my horizons leads to growth. My upbringings pushed me to constantly look fore more opportunities, including launching a resin small business and starting my career in data management! Read more>>

I am from an non-privileged New Jersey family wherein my father was a high school graduate, the first in his family, and a factory worker, while my mother was a homemaker, also the first in her family to graduate from high school. Despite such humble origins my parents were able to scrimp and save so that by the time they were both 25 they had a new car, a second car, and they bought their first house. The upbringing from a blue-collar family consistently mirrors the previous family generations of truck-drivers, farmers, and laborers. My father seized every opportunity he could to take care of our family including my sister and I. He took night classes to learn every machine on the factory floor so he would be indispensable; then, his company moved a factory to Compton, CA so we could move up in the world. Read more>>

Being born and raised in San Diego has had quite the impact on who I am today, and as I have gotten older, the more I have realized such. However, after traveling outside of San Diego, I truly realized the beauty of America’s finest city that, quite frankly, I had taken for granted during my youth. Read more>>

I can proudly say I was born in Ponta Grossa, Brazil, a small town, surrounded by a beautiful nature, many waterfalls and the unique Vila Velha State Park, where you can hike among naturally sculped rock formations! To be who I am today, it took a great deal with curiosity, a passion to find the answers I was looking for and understand its processes. Read more>>

I grew up in Carmichael, a suburb of Sacramento, and my dad is a patent attorney, so he was always telling me about his client’s inventions and taking photos of them for his work. From the time I was a little kid, he gave me my own camera and I loved taking photos. I also loved the idea of entrepreneurship and the creative ideas people had that led to their new businesses. So I was very comfortable with the idea of creating my own business when the time came and was drawn to taking photos that showcased people and their companies. I love hearing what makes people tick, their stories, their inspiration. And now I’m all about exposing my own kids to fun and interesting experiences and passions, since you just never know how it could manifest in their adulthood one day! Read more>>
