Where are you from and how did your background and upbringing impact who you are today?

Through our work we have had the good fortune of seeing firsthand how success comes in every shape, size, color, faith, and orientation. More importantly we’ve learned that success is often the result of people embracing their unique backgrounds and so we’ve asked the community to tell us about their background and how it has impacted where they are today.
I’m from the incredible city of Inglewood, CA. I moved around with my mom a lot as a child but my dad and stepmother have lived here most of my life- so Inglewood has been the most stable home i’ve had. My upbringing had plenty rough patches but I wouldn’t be who I am today without those experiences that cultivated my strength, determination, and resiliency. Read more>>
I was born and raised in Peoria, Arizona with my mom, dad, and five older brothers. Coming from a big family and being the only, and youngest, girl in the family really set out the path of who I would become in the future. I grew up very introverted and often alone yet creative because of that. Growing up I would always be writing stories and making up scenarios with my toys, used to being by myself because I was so much more different than my brothers. I am from Greensburg Pennsylvania. A small town about 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. My love for fashion began as a small child about 10 or 11 years old. As soon as I first started watching America’s Next Top Model, I knew that fashion was my calling. I initially wanted to become a model but my Mom wanted me to pursue a degree just in case modeling didn’t work out for me. I decided to pursue fashion design. After attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and having the school close down three semesters before I was supposed to graduate, I decided to switch my major to Fashion Product Development and graduated from The Academy of Art University in 2021.
