Persevere or Pivot?

To preserver or to pivot is a question that do-ers have been asking themselves since the beginning of time. It’s never a straight road when you are doing something new, blazing a trail, breaking a ceiling, or pushing boundaries, so it’s only natural to wonder whether to give up midway. How do you know whether to keep going or to give up?
I’ve been doing hair for almost 15 years and about 5 years in I almost wanted to give up. I wasn’t making much money, I wasn’t seeing my clientele grow and things were tough financially. I even worked a second job for a few years at another salon and when that didn’t work I worked retail as a second job. When I saw my paychecks from my retail job I knew I could make more money and enjoy my work if I put my heart into my work again at the salon. I got serious about my career again and started with how I showed up to work. I got too comfortable and stopped dressing up for work and stopped doing my hair and makeup before work. Read more>>

When I started 8 years ago I didn’t have anything to lose, so I never stoped, I never give up and I always believe in what I was doing. I pushed forward because I had the feeling that I was doing something different with my own identity. Today I have a different tools to measure; if I should keep going in a new product or idea or if I should give up: those are my clients, my community. I present the new ideas on the social media and see how they react, if the like it or not, but sometime even if I don’t have good feedback but I have the feeling that I should keep going, I just do it. How to know wether to keep going or give up? My first thought is giving up is never an option. Having had a rather difficult childhood definitely gave me the strength, the tools and the answered prayers I needed to endure. To keep going and not lose hope. To not give up. I am thankful for that hardship as it helps me through the challenges of today. Life truly is beautiful. It’s precious! Life is challenging.It is suppose to be. life is a gift . It can be painful. The overcoming is what makes it so rewarding. Not giving up and having hope. Being still yet moving forward. I do feel things either contribute or contaminate our lives.
