We had the good fortune of connecting with Yo Jonesy Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yo Jonesy, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Staying consistent, thinking Positive, sharpening my saw .

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ grew up in a home full of artist and went to a performing arts school all through grade school . I started playing trombone at an early age and put it down for 10 years, yikes . I sang with rap groups , show bands , Broadway musicals and casino bands for years before I realized I wanted to write my own music . I decided to venture out and start an original band focusing on music that uplifts people with no curse words or demeaning content . I call it peace music . I started hash tagging L.I.P. “ live in peace “ to represent lips “speaking desires into existence “ speaking peace into existence. My ultimate goal is to do a L.I.P. Tour and provide a platform for other artists like myself . This tour will focus on Health and wellness and all around good vibrations through fitness music and more . This alone sets me aside from other artist . I noticed that most of the music that’s out and popular isn’t peace like type music or lacks curse words. My mission is to uplift in a positive way , for all people , all ages . Music is love. I want people to know that there is always negative and positive it’s up to us to choose which we will allow to be dominant in our lives. I choose to write more enlightened music , because I know what music does once it’s downloaded in the heart and mind .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lajolla California is my favorite so far .. I’ve only lived in San Diego for two years so I have more things to experience for sure . However Lajolla has never failed me . Beeside Balcony would be the first spot to have a drink and taste or Chef Cevasco then a top down drive along the shores .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my family whose support me unlike any . To my brothers who turned me on to music and books . The Bible being a major influence with success stories and instruction on how to walk in the best light. Laws of success and the secret were eye openers in my life . The 7 habits brought me to more disciplined habits . Victor Wootens book The music lesson, gave me a lighter heart for my craft , and a better prospective. I am thankful to all my Alabama and San Deigo supporters and musicians for believing in my vision .
