Meet Will Franco | Fashion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Franco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Designing makes me happy. It has always made me happy as I remember as a young kid saving money from my school allowance to buy International Fashion Magazines every month. I have always loved fashion, art, and design in general. Creating something beautiful makes me happy; it makes my soul happy and is therapeutic for me..

As a fashion designer, when I see women happy while wearing my dresses and expressing themselves is a wonderful feeling. I love it when they feel empowered, self confident, pretty and super happy wearing my dresses. I feel happy and immensely proud that I have created something that is beautiful and appreciated by other people.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am originally from Mexico but moved to the USA in 2001. I actually came here to study Accounting but I never graduated from that. Time passed by and I decided to go back to school to fulfill my dreams to become a Fashion Designer. I graduated from CSULB in 2016.

I have my own creative studio in the heart of Los Angeles’ Fashion District. Community is important to me so I have made collections to support different diverse organizations and causes including the Transgender Community and young people with Down Syndrome. I am also proud that I have gained national and international exposure by showing in Los Angeles Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Weekend and most recently presenting a collection in Tokyo. Also, I have been published in multiple International fashion magazines and my garments have been in several music videos.

There will always be times when things will not go your way, but you have to take that as a lesson and keep moving forward. This market is very competitive but if you love what you do, there is nothing that you cannot accomplish. Still, you have to be determined, respectful and passionate about your work.

I am proud to be a Mexican-American Fashion Designer that is recognized internationally and that there is so much more of me and my designs to be seen and shown in the future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like to go to the coast of Palos Verdes. I love driving along the coast and looking at the ocean and beautiful homes. I like to sit and enjoy the view, do a little jogging and sometimes meditate a little.

There are so many places to eat on your way there or you can go to Terranea resort and have coffee or a lunch or dinner in a beautiful SoCal ambiance .

I am blessed to live on the water in Long Beach. Thus, for me, I love walking on the beach, sometimes by myself and sometimes running with my dog. Also, I enjoy going to different restaurants by the Marina where you can hang out with your friends, drink or eat and the view is always amazing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mark Gunter, my photographer because he Inspires me and believes in me. He has taken so many wonderful pictures whether in a runway show or in a location abroad. The result is always amazing and reveals different depths of beauty..
