We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Cunanan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of the most important things that has to be present throughout this journey of creativity and entrepreneurship, is trust and patience. When I decided that I wanted to spend more time focusing on photography, I was so far from confident and thought that I would start getting gigs overnight and now I know that the more I push myself to this commitment of collaborating and working for myself, the closer I get to making my dreams a reality… it takes time. I have to remind myself countless times to have fun and enjoy the process- redirection is okay. It feels so good to want to do something and then experience it coming into fruition, it feels so good to be scared of something- do it anyways- and then be like wow I just did that. So yeah, trust, dedication, patience, and easeee are my keys to success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Of course, I am a branding photographer and Creative Director. I help artists and small business owners feel confident in their work by providing accurate visual representation for their audience or clients. I like to photograph cover art, behind the scenes, and content for your website etc. I would say my style is very raw, I like to capture energy as it is and make it moody with the colors. I am currently working on a photo series that showcases female artists in SD and will soon turn the series into a fun photo book. I’m honestly so excited to start sharing this work. Along with being a freelance branding photographer, I teach yoga and co-own Luna and Soul, a small business where we sell meditation candles and facilitate full moon workshops to introduce ancient practices focused on spiritual growth and grounding.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that shower me with love and support. Niko Jones, my boo thang- is someone who has listened to my ideas, complaints, successes, challenges and everything in between without ever making me feel invalid. Jaimie Lindquist an inspirational af and badass Coach has guided me many times when I felt lost, my friends Kass and Kayah are the direct artistic reflections of myself and I’m so stoked to see what we all create together and for ourselves, Jennie Gama and the 2 Britt’s in my life are my second homes I owe them everything. My parents, duh. because they teach me who I don’t want to be but also to love unconditionally. #1 inspo=Music, Willow Smith, Kali Uchis, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, FKJ, Frank Ocean, the Beatles, Pink Floyd all of it… I definitely would go crazy without music. On days I need a pep talk, I listen to the words of Abraham Hicks, Heather of activationvibration, and Sahara Rose. The days I need a laugh or mind boggling shit, I go to Joe rogan of course. The list literally goes onnnn, I’d like to thank you and you and you and you, thank youuu. People on the internet too!! I’m always so inspired.
