We had the good fortune of connecting with Vicky Sasouvong and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vicky, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
It’s so so easy to just say you know what, this isn’t for me…. or, I can’t make it that far like how this person did. There’s so many things you can say to give up but holding on to your dream and working towards your goals every single day takes so much strength and courage! It sounds so cliché but it’s so true! I won’t sit here and say I haven’t felt discouraged some days! And I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been so hard! But I feel deep in my soul that I’m supposed to be living my dream and even though I’m not quite there yet, I know the outcome is going to be well worth it! It took me some time to get to where I am now and it’s so crazy how much I’ve grown both mentally and spiritually! Meditating, finding my peace and practicing self love has definitely helped lead me to where I am today. Every morning I listen to my positive affirmations and meditate to kick start my day. There’s nothing better than creating a positive space to work and create. If your dreams are really meant to come true, there’s no time limit on when it can happen for you. And remember, the only thing holding you back from your dreams is you! Find what you love the most, feel it and pray on your growth. You know that someone truly loves what they’re doing when you don’t even have to question them about it and people can just feel it from their energy and that’s exactly how you want people to feel when they’re around you! Whether it be your peers, random strangers, people at social events…. your energy tells your story and what you stand for. I think it’s all about finding your balance in everything. Once you feel like you have more control over the process and you’re mentally prepared for the journey you can decide whether what you truly want is meant for you or not. In this day in age, practicing self love has become such a huge thing and it’s so important because people tend to lose themselves in the mix of comparing or simply feeling like they’re not enough. Be unapologetically YOU! It’s all about being organic and the best version of yourself. Do what you love and love what you do and when you start to vision your life and how you want it to be, things will fall into place. Trust the process and remember that you’re doing this for you and no one else! Having a great support system is everything but it’s nothing if you aren’t manifesting that positive energy for yourself. Self love is the best love you’ll receive and it will play a big role in your success. Anyone can say they’ve given up because it’s obviously the easiest thing to do, but holding on to what you dream for is going to be the best part of your story.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Incorporating what you love into your daily routine. It keeps you motivated and most importantly, it will help you stay creative. I think once you find your flow, everything else will come natural and easy. Putting together ideas and making mood boards are probably what I look forward to doing the most. Staying raw and organic and making your content your signature is the best you can do for your “brand”. I think professionally, it all has to do with planning content and staying ahead of your schedule that you plan out for the week. I feel that helps me the most because I know what I need to do and I give myself a specific time frame to have certain things out at a special time and day of the week.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think I’ve grown to appreciate nature more so a nice long hike would most definitely be the vibe followed by some good food, local foods of course cause you know we gotta support small businesses!! Also, I know long drives and just breathing in the fresh California air is a MUST so a drive down the PCH with a dope playlist and having brunch in Laguna Beach is like, EVERYTHING so that’s probably what our days would consist of.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Family is everything to me and that’s where I get the most raw feedback and advice which encourages me to do more or less if needed haha. Being a mother has also been a big push in my upcoming career. It’s the will and drive of wanting to be more for your child that really gives you that extra motivation. You are literally the epitome of the younger generation and it will really show through your children once they grow older and realize that they played one of the biggest roles in your success. For me, my family and my few close friends will always be behind me 100% and that’s what’s kept me on my toes throughout this whole process. When I have thoughts and ideas to share, I automatically think of my family. Whether they support my decisions or not they’re gonna always have my best interest at heart. As you continue to grow with your career there’s always going to be your support system that you’ve grown through social media but the closest thing you gotta keep with you is that love and support you’ve grown to know and be around and that’s your family. I also give credit to my husband and my daughter because they make creating so easy, fun and natural. It’s become all of our jobs in a way because it’s been part of our daily routine to create content. I can be my absolute self with them and that’s what puts my mind at ease which helps me continue to want to create and grow. I’ve made many amazing friends along the way that’s really helped me appreciate the journey because they’ve grown to love me for me and they’ve seen me fall and cheered me on to get back up and try again. I wouldn’t be me if it wasn’t for my family and friends.
