Meet Veronica Carr | Luxury Event & Wedding Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Carr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was both a heart-led decision and a strategic one. After years of working in the events industry and collaborating with incredible clients and vendors, I found myself craving a deeper level of creative freedom and a more personal connection to the celebrations I was helping to bring to life.
San Diego is such a vibrant, diverse, and naturally stunning place—it’s a dream canvas for creating elevated, unforgettable experiences. I realized that by building my own brand, I could offer a highly tailored planning experience that reflects not just trends or logistics, but the heart and soul of each client’s story. Luxury, to me, is about intention—every detail thoughtfully designed, every moment intentionally curated.
I wanted to create a planning experience where clients felt truly taken care of—where trust, beauty, and calm coexist from the first meeting to the final farewell. That desire, combined with a passion for design and an obsession with flawless execution, is what led me to take the leap and start my own firm.
It’s been one of the most challenging and rewarding journeys of my life, and I’m so grateful to work in a space where I get to create joy and beauty in such a meaningful way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career as a luxury wedding and event planner has been anything but a straight line—it’s been a winding journey filled with passion, grit, reinvention, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. I founded my company nearly 12 years ago in San Diego, a city known for its beauty, but also for being one of the most competitive and expensive markets in the country. That reality alone has forced me to grow—not just as a planner, but as a business owner, a leader, and a creative.
What sets me apart is a blend of meticulous planning and intentional heart. I approach each event as if it were my own—no detail is too small, no decision too insignificant. My clients are trusting me with some of the most meaningful moments of their lives, and I take that responsibility to heart. I also believe that true luxury lies in how an experience feels, not just how it looks. My goal is always to create environments that are stunning, yes—but also deeply personal, authentic, and unforgettable.
I’m most proud of the business I’ve built and sustained through the highs and lows—especially the pandemic, which shook the entire industry. There were moments when it would’ve been easier to walk away, but I chose to pivot, innovate, and hold onto the “why” behind what I do. That resilience is something I carry with me every day.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success isn’t just about talent—it’s about relationships, consistency, and integrity. It’s about staying curious, open, and willing to evolve. I’ve also learned to define success on my own terms—not by comparison, but by connection, fulfillment, and impact.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that we are more than planners—we are storytellers, advocates, and visionaries. We listen deeply, care deeply, and execute with intention and precision. Our events aren’t cookie-cutter; they are reflections of the people we serve, crafted with purpose and elevated with beauty.
My story is one of perseverance, passion, and purpose—and I’m just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting San Diego for a week, I’d make it my mission to show them the real San Diego—the layered, gorgeous, laid-back-luxury version that locals know and love. It’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and it has a little something for everyone.
Day 1 – Welcome to San Diego (La Jolla + Coastal Luxury)
We’d kick things off in La Jolla, starting with brunch at The Cottage—a quintessential spot for mimosas and sunshine. Then, a walk along the La Jolla Cove to see the sea lions and soak in the coastal views.
Dinner would be at George’s at the Cove (Level2 or Ocean Terrace)—unbeatable oceanfront views with elevated coastal cuisine.
Nightcap at Raised by Wolves in UTC—hidden behind a revolving fireplace, it’s one of the most luxurious speakeasy experiences in the city.
Day 2 – Balboa Park + Downtown Delights
A cultural morning at Balboa Park—San Diego Botanical Garden, Japanese Friendship Garden, and just wandering the stunning Spanish architecture.
Lunch at Panama 66 for casual bites and craft beer or cocktail in the sculpture garden.
Dinner at Born and Raised in Little Italy—a swanky steakhouse with vintage glam and tableside martinis.
Late-night? We’d sneak into The Waterfront Bar in Little Italy—a true dive bar with history, sticky floors, and the best kind of chaos.
Day 3 – Waterfront Wonders + Yacht Day
Morning coffee at Portside Coffee at the Embarcadero, followed by a private yacht charter from the San Diego Harbor—coastal views, Champagne, and sunshine.
Dockside dinner at Coasterra on Harbor Island—modern Mexican with panoramic skyline views.
If we get a wild hair and want a little more fun, after-party at False Idol, a hidden tiki bar inside Craft & Commerce.
Day 4 – North County Escape (Encinitas + Solana Beach)
A slower-paced day in North County. We would take the coaster from Old Town to Encinitas. If you are feeling flirty and want to bring some champagne on the train, just make sure you keep it on the low, and bring to go coffee cups for the champs.
Breakfast at 101 Diner in Encinitas, then beach time at Moonlight Beach or a stroll through San Elijo Lagoon.
A quick change and freshen up, to have lunch at The Pony Room at Rancho Valencia for a luxury ranch vibe.
Dinner at Pillbox Tavern in Solana Beach for casual eats and locals-only charm.
We’d end the night at The Kraken—a dive bar across from the ocean with live music and a salty crowd.
Day 5 – Excursion Day (Wine or Desert)
Option 1: Head to Temecula for a wine tasting day—Bottaia Winery or Leoness Cellars with a private tour.
Option 2: Take a day trip to Julian for small-town charm, apple pie, and cozy vibes—or go desert luxe with a detour to Borrego Springs for stargazing.
Dinner back in San Diego at Mister A’s—rooftop fine dining with panoramic city views.
Day 6 – Beach Day + Sunset Cliffs
Morning hike at Torrey Pines, then beach time in Ocean Beach.
Lunch at Noodle House 1502 (their newer location) for a locals vibe. The wings, sizzling fish, and the house fried rice are must try!
Sunset drinks at Sunset Cliffs, followed by dinner at Campfire on Mission Bay.
Late-night dive bar stop: Raglan Public House in OB or The Casbah for live music.
Day 7 – Brunch, Browsing + Farewell
Final day vibes: brunch at Morning Glory (hello, soufflé pancakes and design goals), boutique browsing in Little Italy or South Park, then farewell cocktails at The Pearl Hotel—a mid-century modern gem with poolside vibes and vintage flair.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely—our journey has been shaped and supported by so many incredible individuals, but there are two women who stand out above the rest for their impact on my career.
First, Doris Goodson of San Diego Events Company was an instrumental mentor and a true catalyst in helping me launch my business. Her guidance, encouragement, and belief in me during those early days gave me the confidence to take the leap. Over the years, Doris has continued to be a steadfast supporter—not just as a fellow planner, but as a true friend.
Secondly, I have to shout out Susanne Duffy of Crown Weddings and Events. Although we worked in the same circles for many years, our deeper friendship and connection came later—and I’m so grateful it did. Susanne has long been a quiet champion of other planners in our community, and once we grew closer, she became a generous source of support during some pivotal moments of growth and evolution in my business.
Both Doris and Susanne embody what it means to uplift others in this industry, and I’m endlessly thankful for their wisdom, friendship, and encouragement. Their presence in my journey has been both grounding and inspiring.
