We had the good fortune of connecting with Ugo Tsalapatanis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ugo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was pretty minimal. More like a flow and continuation of what I loved to learn and do. I had been in the field of meditation, shamanism and self growth for almost a decade and when I discovered hypnosis I felt right at home. I just loved learning about it and becoming a hypnotherapist felt like the natural move. I actually had a dream that guided me in that direction and I’m pretty connected to the dream world.
Once I knew that it was time to get certified as a hypnotist, I made the money as a carpenter and then just did it. Within a year I quit everything, change country, welcomed my first child and opened a practice. Intense and amazing.
That’s how I’ve been rolling for the past 20 years and It’s been good to me. Follow what you love, be brave and dare. Then keep listening as you move forward to keep learning, growing and adjusting if need be.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My hypnotherapy practice is mostly focused on helping people remove inner blockages and limitations so that they can live a more fulfilling live by being more themselves.
I bring almost 2 decades of study and training in the different fields of self growth like meditation and eastern philosophy, shamanism and the study of dreams, energy practices like Qi Gong, Neurolinguistic Programming and Hypnosis.
I’ve had practices in St Barths in the Caribbean, the south of France, Seattle and now Maui, Hawaii. I know what it’s like to start over, change country, be uncomfortable, overcome tough challenges and create a successful business while deeply enjoying life.
What I do is like an art. The art of playing with the mind, heart and consciousness to help someone become more awake and in love with life itself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now that I live on Maui, I’d take them surfing, hiking through a bamboo forest to go to a waterfall and maybe go inside the crater of the volcano. I love being in nature and that’s what I’d rather share with someone I care about. It’s beautiful, healing and fun! For partying I would probably invite them for dinner at home. My wife and I love to cook, celebrate being alive and have meaningful conversations.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All my teachers, clients, wife and kids.
