We had the good fortune of connecting with Tom Tolman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tom, how do you define success?
I like the way famous radio broadcaster and business leader Earl Nightingale of Nightingale-Conant couched it. He said , “success is the progressive realization toward a worthwhile ideal.” I would add that its very close to the formula for happiness – progress. Making progress in any goal area, That doesn’t mean always crossing the finish line, it means making progress, moving forward in any of our 8 goal areas : financial, educational, relationship (personal or business) , career, family/home / recreation. mental-emotional-spiritual, physical/health/vitality, and service – giving back to your community or charity. I would to that “formula” of progress; control or influence over our selves, and last being aligned with our values.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For years I worked in the radio and wireless communications field from working for Motorola, to 9-1-1 centers, to research and development at the University of Denver Research Institute to author of The 7 Gears Between Cause & Effect ( Gaining Mastery Over Your Outcomes, Results and Conditions) to real estate. most proud of my family. I am most excited about expanding the message in the 7 Gears Book and Program. Obtaining a BSBM and Masters Degree in Technology Management helped me professionally, but it wasn’t the defining factor in any of my successes. was it easy? no, Rewarding? yes. life Lessons ; in real estate its about location, location, location, in business and life its about relationships, relationships, relationships, whether it’s business or personal. In the book I talk about what I call the “Collaboration Continuum” and how go from building rapport to commitment, to buy-in, to the highest level, ownership. Read The 7 Gears Between Cause & Effect from Itunes, Amazon, B&N color version e-book or print! There’s been a lot of talk and publicity about the “Law of Attraction” but The 7 Gears delves into 7 interactive factors at work in our lives between what’s been called the Iron Law Cause & Effect. These 7 factors or gears as I call them are not my invention, but rather my discovery. In the right order and sequence, these 7 gears have the potential to accelerate positive change and shave off years of frustration in getting to the next level or upgrading our internal operating system.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my area Denver : Casa Bonita the one made famous by South Park , silly fun. Got’ta do it once. Mile -Hi stadium for a Bronco game or Coors field for a Rockies game. In summer a visit up to the top of Pikes Peak or over to Rocky Mountain National Park and watch the moose & elk. For dinner we jet down to San Diego area to Little Italy and enjoy some of the best Pizzas and Italian food around. While in San Diego I would hang out around Seaport Village ( I sure hope the fudge shop can get back in business after last year !) Mai tais on Coronado Island at the beach shack at Coronado Hotel.
