We had the good fortune of connecting with Tino Gabaldon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tino, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
This is a tricky one because I feel like in the beginning you definitely have to hustle and grind to make things happen, but at the same time don’t over do it. So finding that balance can be hard sometimes. I have a good system of working hard, but also taking multiple mini vacations thru out the year to keep me refreshed and recharged. As time goes by and I’m currently on year 8 of my small business, I think my mindset is changing to more quality of life vs killing myself behind the chair. It is definitely harder to not over do it though because as the years go on I just get busier and busier also so there’s that haha.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being artistic comes naturally for me, I grew up drawing and painting my whole life so doing hair is just another form of showing my art skill and passion. I think that definitely shows thru in my hair painting and the fluidity of it all. I’m proud of having my very own hair product line T.G. Hair Products. I currently have 2 clays, a paste, a cream and a volume powder. I’ve had the line for 7 years now and have sold over 1500 units nationwide. Im excited to keep the brand expanding and start having more and more shops carry my product line.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely have to take them to one of our awesome beaches, maybe Coronado or North County. Maybe grab some awesome food and drinks in Little Italy like Barbusa, Kettner Exchange or Noilta Hall. Take them on a cool hike or paddle boarding by the bay.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout to my parents. They definitely raised me to be a hard worker and go after what I want. To always stay humble, and be thankful for every season and lesson of life that’s comes my way.
