We had the good fortune of connecting with Teresa Buenaflor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teresa, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Small handmade artisans have been around for a very long time, in various countries, sharing their passion with their local communities and the world. The Artisan world exploded during the pandemic and opened doors for creativity and in return supports mental health issues during this difficult time.

The Traveling Artisans’ Market is a carefully curated professional handmade market that showcases our artistry in beautiful picturesque venues and settings within our lovely coastal city. Traveling Artisans’ mission is to support a vibrant community of artists and artisans by creating a space for their work, and engaging the public in an experience that inspires passion and appreciation for the arts.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets the Traveling Artisans’ Market apart from other markets is our dedication to providing beautiful venue settings for our artisans, curating a professional handmade market, and cultivating a culture of teamwork for all ~ Admin and vendor alike.

TAM is very proud of our small young market and all that we’ve been able to achieve in such a short period of time. We’ve been able to set a precedent for our market and attract the makers who appreciate our vision. Starting a new market has many challenges and when you have particular guidelines to be selected by our market, that can add to the challenges as well. TAM never wants to make anyone feel excluded; therefore, we will be curating a new market where we can showcase other vendors outside of our handmade market.

TAM has many new developments in 2022 and is ready to grow our markets for the future. Please follow along with us on this exciting journey!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop would be Hotel Del in Coronado as that is an iconic location to appreciate our lovely coastal city, grab a meal in town to appreciate the locals favorites and walk up and down Orange Avenue to do some boutique shopping. The following days would be some great places to showcase the beauty of San Diego; such as, Balboa Park, Safari Park, downtown San Diego and more coastal cities ~ Del Mar and Encinitas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Traveling Artisans’ Market is nothing without their talented artisans so we would like to first, thank all our TAM artisans for their continued support and personal efforts to see our market come to fruition.

TAM was launched with a vision to showcase our handmade artistry within beautiful venues; therefore, we would like to thank all our venue owners for allowing us to utilize their lovely spaces for our events this year.

TAM is a curated professional handmade market that has been run by a small group of makers who have contributed their time, support, and expertise to get our young market on its feet. The efforts of our Admin team are often unseen and at times, made unaware of all it entails in coordination; therefore, TAM could not have done all of this without the guidance and helpful tips of our hard working and selfless Admin team.

It takes a village and TAM is humbled by the continued efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of all who has contributed to our exponential growth in 2021. TAM sends much Love and Appreciattion to all our customers and supporters!
