We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Present Iteration is creating awareness. At Present Iteration we want to communicate that all you need is less. Putting back that single use plastic, putting back those three t-shirts you really do not need, or simply just going without. We challenge our consumer to retrain the brain everything we were taught about our buying patterns.

What should our readers know about your business?
Present Iteration was formed due to a multitude of issues. Coming from a luxury retail background I noticed that there was a large gap in the market to find tasteful sustainable ready to wear. There were random brands that you could order from, but no marketplace like Present Iteration. No one stop shop who did their research, that I could trust. From that day on, Present Iteration was born.

Something that sets us apart is not only are we a marketplace with different categories (home, accessories, shoes, ready to wear). We also pride ourselves on being an educational platform. As a consumer it can be very overwhelming to dip your toe into the world of sustainability, so we strive to create a welcoming and inspiring platform to learn more about acting kinder to Mother Nature.

Finally, we offer sustainability consulting for brands that hope to join the Present Iteration family in the future. Any brand’s commitment to sustainable branding can immediately lead them to be featured on Present Iteration–this is our pledge.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Something so special about Southern California is the hiking and obviously being right next to the ocean. Starting in the morning we would wake up and take a bike ride all along the coast, my usual ride is about 6 miles. Then I would take them to my favorite brewery in Encinitas (Culture Brewing Company), for lunch we pack a picnic to enjoy at the beach. For dinner we would try either the Flying Pig in Oceanside or Alila Marea which is right on the water with one of the best views along the coast. We live in one of the most beautiful spots in the country, one can do no wrong.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, all pioneers in sustainability Present Iteration owes credit to. But more importantly anyone that is doing their part and challenging those around them to live more consciously plays a huge part in our success story.

Present Iteration is also grateful for our village and support system. Anyone that purchased from us or shared one of our posts, they are tiny acts but those do not go unnoticed, especially in small businesses.
