We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Daly-Weber and Bianca Karim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney and Bianca, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

This quote resonates so deeply with us and truly is the foundation of our work. When you understand we are all a part of the Universe and everything is working for/with you, rather than against you, your life radically changes. Everything is energy; everything is consciousness. Being spiritual doesn’t mean you’re “woo-woo” and your head is up in the clouds all the time. It means understanding we’re all apart of something bigger and everything is connected. The power of meditation, manifestation, intention setting, etc., it’s all REAL, as long as you follow it up with action. Our handmade products allow people to connect with that deeper part of themselves, their soul.

Scented Gems is our way of making an impact on the collective consciousness of the planet.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At Scented Gems, we create handmade crystal-embedded candles, soaps, bath bombs and bath salts. All of our products are made with love and intention and are infused with Reiki energy. Every item has a healing crystal embedded on the inside for customers to have a healing stone to keep as their own. These healing crystals can be used as palm stones, kept in pockets or purses, placed in a safe space in homes, etc. Every item has a specific intention due to the natural healing abilities of the crystals. Our labels list some of the properties of the crystals so our customers can decide exactly what kind of energy they need in life at that time. Smoke & water further enhance healing crystal properties, which is why we combined healing crystals with our natural products.

We are SO proud of all that we have accomplished over the past few years. This was a passion project we talked about almost three years ago. We then took the time to perfect our recipes and have been in business for over a year now. We receive the most feedback from our candles, our customers share they don’t even have to burn their candles in order for the scent to envelope the room. Some use them just as home décor and take the lids off to have the scent disperse. We also receive wonderful feedback about our bath bombs. Kids especially love the bath bombs because the fizz and bubbles are so fun, plus they get to keep the surprise inside afterwards (the crystal)!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh boy, where to even begin?! There is SO much to do in San Diego! We would definitely take them to explore San Diego staples like Balboa Park, Seaport Village, Sunset Cliffs, and Old Town. We’d also take them to try out some vegan restaurants because the game has been stepped up SO high! Donna Jean, Sipz in North Park, Plant Power Fast Food, Kindred, etc. They are all SO delicious! To get a feel for the real SD lifestyle, we’d spend an entire day hanging out in either Pacific Beach or Ocean Beach playing in the waves, hanging out in the sun, and meeting the coolest (and weirdest, in the best way possible) people! For drinks, they’d definitely have to check out some of the speakeasys like Polite Provisions and Raised by Wolves.
