Meet Suz Terzuola | Entrepreneur, podcaster, stand up comedian

We had the good fortune of connecting with Suz Terzuola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Suz, what role has risk played in your life or career?
No risk, no gain. I have been a risk taker my entire life. I was raised by 2 successful entrepreneurs. So risk taking was just part of life.
I started a podcast: The Knife Wife ( I am married to a famous knife maker craftsman) because I was sick of toxic media. I wanted a place people could get away from all the negativity. I suspected other people felt the same. I say we find ourselves through other’s stories. I try to bring humor and make people laugh. Making people laugh is always a win win.
I tried to focus on couples working together at first. But that was not sustainable. Did I end the podcast, no. I pivoted to creatives, comedians, entrepreneurs, and other risk takers. They share their stories and bring a connection and joy to our audience. Our audience has tripled since this pivot.
Then I started doing stand up comedy at 69. Standing up in front of a room of strangers and making them laugh, is quite a risk. But when you think about it- what is the worst that could happen? I bomb. People my age shake their heads at me to even try this at my age. If not now-when? It’s going very well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a serial professional creative. I have used my creativity to problem solve in every work related situation. From costume department in tv/film, licensing my husbands designs worldwide, taking my fine art prints and turning them into patterns I also license, podcasting, stand up comedy.
I am not afraid to be wrong, and when I am-I admit it and move on. I like living in the solution, not the problem. I hire people who have skills I don’t have.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Huntington Library, Balboa Park. All beach towns in SoCal have mom and pop venues that allow my guest to get their “Vitamin Sea” this area provides. It depends on their age, and their interests.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has always supported my creative endeavors. I have been running his business and supporting him for over 20 years. We are a team.
I also was part of a master mind group in 2023 that pushed me to be into podcasting and stand up.
