We had the good fortune of connecting with Soco Fa Sho and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Soco, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I’d say most people don’t realize how much work the engineers do for our songs. The mixing process and all that goes along with it are often tedious and time consuming. But, what people probably wouldn’t imagine is how much difference they make once they get a hold of those raw vocals or sounds. Even to this day I’m impressed by what they do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m into making my audience think, and pay attention to the world around them. I try to express my gratitude for the life I have. Though I’ve made a lot of sacrifices in life, and even my share of mistakes, I still try to share how blessed I am to be here and hopefully it will resonate with listeners. I’m confident and a little cocky, but humble for sure. All that being said, I’m constantly working on my craft. I write my own lyrics, sing and rap my own songs and now I make my own beats. I consider myself a substantial lyricist and novice producer. I’m inspired by the dirty south and country rap tunes from where I’m from but being raised on southern rock and country I’m a bit different than most artists you’ll encounter nowadays. I’m a father, a veteran, a biker, and all of that comes through in my music. Ultimately the goal is to have a good time, understand they are not alone in the struggle, pay attention to what’s going on around them and question everything. All while keeping it funky!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d have to say Grinder Gym is the spot. I recommend this place to any and everyone who has a body to tone or bulk, this is the place to be. The owner Dave Depew is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, and maybe one of the biggest! But seriously it’s an amazing gym that has everything and a lot of it is outdoors so it’s a great way to enjoy San Diego’s beautiful weather and work on yourself. For everything else San Diego related I explained it all in my song Welcome. Breweries and dispensaries galore and a night life to boot. Welcome to Cali!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Justin Truelove is a local Mixing Engineer here in San Diego, and he’s been a huge reason for my success with music. He’s of course done great work on all of our music too, but he’s even produced a few of my songs as well. He introduces me to people that help my career and that’s a big thing. So big shot out to Justin and thank you for everything. Much appreciated.
