We had the good fortune of connecting with Sima Kimble and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sima, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success, and the success of my brand, is being true to my “why.” My “why” is the driving force behind everything I do. For me, that’s having a genuine desire to help people succeed, grow, and be better versions of themselves. This desire extends to my team, the people that support me; and my clients, the people I strive to help achieve more with my products and services. Understanding a strong “why,” gives me a purposeful mission. People connect with my brand when they sense the authenticity of my mission to help others. It’s instrumental to my success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I’ve experienced first-hand how a kind word, a simple acknowledgment, a warm recognition, or a gentle nod in the right direction can change the trajectory of a person’s life for the better. I’ve found great purpose in helping others. I created Breyben, Inc. to help people live their best lives and feel good about themselves and what they can achieve. Education is one way to better ourselves, individually and as a community. Our mission at Breyben, Inc. is to empower students to succeed in their educational journey, from enrollment to completion of their academic program. This is achieved through the use of mobile and web technologies. What sets Breyben, Inc. apart is our approach to technology to engage, delight, and empower our users.

I’m very excited about the impact we’ve already seen on the students using our platform. I’ve witnessed them take ownership of their education and ask the right questions based on the information we provided them. These are questions they would never have asked before and actions they would never have taken. Providing detailed information in near real-time, means one less student got lost in the shuffle. Seeing this response and knowing we’re making a difference is exciting and encouraging!

Starting a business is relatively easy, but sticking with it is tricky. There have been many challenges and rejections but I’ve learned a great deal through adversity.  I’ve learned the importance of resilience and belief. I believe in Breyben, Inc., I believe in my team, and I believe in our mission. Determination, strong conviction, and resilience are essential elements that have carried me through the most challenging days. The reward of seeing students succeed is worth overcoming challenges and persisting. I remind myself that there is much good we have yet to accomplish, and I look forward to seeing Breyben, Inc. thrive in the years to come. My advice for anyone starting a business is to put in the work, be flexible, learn from your mistakes, and don’t give up.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many things to do in San Diego! Depending on the time of year, you can catch a Padres game at Petco Park, or dress as your favorite comic character, and attend Comic Con at the San Diego Convention Center. Enjoy shops, delicious food, and beautiful beaches in La Jolla, Del Mar, or Solana Beach. Stop at Balboa park to enjoy museums and gardens and Mission Bay for picnics, biking, paddle boarding, jet skiing, and more. Catch a symphony at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. Also, there is Coronado, the Harbor, Seaport Village, the Gaslamp Quarter, the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, and many sites and restaurant spots in between to visit. My favorite restaurant spots are El Zarape for Mexican food, Mister A’s for a great view, and Cucina Basilico for authentic Italian food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mom and my Breyben, Inc. Team; Krystle, Matthew, Jerald, Fernando, Larry, and Dr. Russ. Being an entrepreneur is challenging and there are moments when I’ve questioned everything, including my sanity. I’m grateful for these few that have seen the worst and encourage and support me to keep going. I would not be where I am now without them.
