We had the good fortune of connecting with Shea Sadulski Vitti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shea, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The amount of effort that goes into photography. Many people think that I just take pictures and my photos are good based solely on my camera. A client once said, “That’s really good. Well, you have a good camera” after showing them the photo I had just taken. A lot of planning goes into my sessions. Of course, sometimes spur of the moment things happen. Although for the most part, it’s all well planned out; from lighting, posing, wardobe, location, ECT.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve spent years building my brand and figuring out what I wanted it to be. I’ve gone to different classes and workshops, having a variety of mentors finally love what I do. When you see a beautiful picture and try to recreate it, you don’t realize how difficult that is until you are knee deep in it. You take the photos and when you go edit them, you realize it looks nothing like how you wanted them to.
That is very humbling.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Obviously, I would start by taking them to the beach and wander around the Hotel Del Coronado. The next stop would be one of my favorite places, the World Famous Corvette Diner. We would visit Casa Guadalajara in Old Town and visit the Whaley House. Finally, I would take them to Lolita’s Taco shop in Chula Vista. There are so many places to visit.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout out to all of my friends that have supported my crazy ideas even if that meant wearing a bathing suit in November at the beach or wearing a gown in a swimming pool to practice underwater shots.
