We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaniece Benson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shaniece, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote by Nelson Mandela: I never lose. I either win or learn. The sentence in itself conveys a very positive message: one of forward movement, seeing the good side of things, and being positive! What this quote means to me is to acknowledge what didn’t work and learn from it to win!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a proud Online Fitness and Lifestyle Coach empowering women to confidently step into success through my one-on-one fitness training and lifestyle coaching. This year I kicked off an 8-week fitness program which includes:

I believe what sets me apart is that I help my clients change their mindset about getting in shape; not only physically, but the hardest part, too – mentally. I help my clients get more energy and mental clarity to become a better romantic partner/co-worker/friend/daughter, and finally, tap into that potential that you KNOW is in there. Consistency, discipline, and being uncomfortable is what helps me get to where I am as a professional. It was not a smooth ride because I could see what I wanted to eventually do but had no idea how to get there. I was overwhelmed and uncertain of my purpose at times. As time went on, things started to become clearer as I slowly started tweaking the platform from just a motivation site for women to a full-on coach. It was three years in the making. I didn’t know how I was going to help others, but I knew I would. Bloom Fitness is a year and a half old. I feel alive and at this stage in my life, I’m excited to have found my purpose. I want to continue to empower others to confidently go after what they want! During my journey, I learned to be patient and trust the timing of your life. It’s so easy for us to become impatient when things are not going the way we want them to. Remember, just stay positive and make the necessary steps to get what you want out of life. Your hard work will pay off but believing in yourself is the key to make your dreams a reality. I want the world to know that my family means everything to me. It’s important to me to continue being a role model for my 15 nieces and nephews. That’s the number one reason why I continued to push through the adversities and uncertainty. I wanted to instill in them the importance of hard work, discipline, and desire to never give up. After all, eventually, you will get there. You will see your dreams manifest themselves, and they, too, could do anything their heart desired.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmm, it’s so many things to do here in Sunny San Diego. On our way back from the airport, I would stop in Little Italy and bring my best friend to Cloaks and Petal for a drink and to people watch of course. The atmosphere, vibe, and music are on point there. There are so many options when it comes to food. The top places we would eat are at City Tacos in North Park, Aladdin Cafe, OB Noodle House, Madison, Farmer’s Table, Garden Kitchen, Cafe 21, and the list goes on. Nightlife is my favorite, which means you would catch us at rooftop lounges sipping on the best drinks which oversee incredible views. Altitude Sky Lounge, Born and Raised, Andaz Rooftop, Rustic Roots, and Kettner Exchange are some of the best rooftop lounges in San Diego. I would also bring her to tourist places in San Diego such as: Balboa Park, Old Town, Coronado, Torrie Pines, Ski Beach to Jet ski, Sunset Cliffs to name a few.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I hold heartily believe in the saying, “Surround yourself with the dreamers and doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when sometimes you don’t see it yourself.” With that being said, I want to dedicate and shoutout the people that supported and believed me along the way. Trey Winfrey, Mo Cisse, Sheree Fullwood, Melissa Achaw-owusu, Wasim Hajjiri, and Joe Klemczewski. I also want to thank my closes friends and family members for your love, support, and encouragement. I’m grateful to have you all in my life.
