We had the good fortune of connecting with Shane Wiese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shane, what’s your definition for success?
I define success by doing things that make me feel happy and satisfied. I gauge my success by setting forth goals and accomplishing them to the best of my ability which helps me feel like I’m progressing. Even if I don’t accomplish a goal, I try to learn something from the failure and move forward with more knowledge.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love nature and especially the ocean. I focus more on ocean photography because there is so much left to discover and not many people get a chance to see what the ocean has to offer. I want share what I have the privilege of seeing so people can have a bigger appreciation for the world and what it has to offer. It’s been an awesome journey of learning how to capture better images under the water. There have been challenges financially because underwater photography is a very expensive passion. But I work as much as I can and live a simple life so I can focus on doing what I love. I’m always trying to learn to balance things in my life so I can keep doing what I love to do,
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I obviously love La Jolla. But Glider Port is a good place to watch for whales and dolphins. Also, Balboa Park is a beautiful place to walk around and explore museums.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Brother Brandon and his wife Ana have been my biggest supporters throughout my journey. Also, my dad has helped a lot.
