Meet Sarah Horowitz | Digital Marketer & Lifestyle Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Horowitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, how do you think about risk?
I really love the quote “fortune favors the brave” and I think it definitely relates to my philosophy on life. I feel very strongly that playing it safe will only get you so far and making bold moves can change the entire trajectory of your life. Our time on earth is entirely too short to have any “what ifs” leftover at the end. My advice to anyone who holds back from taking risks is to stop being afraid of making the wrong choice and realize that most of time, there is no “wrong” choice. There is no shortage of opportunities in life so no real reason to play it safe.
Last year, I took a risk in moving across the country to San Diego after visiting twice. I can’t even begin to count how many people said to me “wow, I wish I could do that!” The irony of it all is that every single one of them was no less capable than I was. If I hadn’t moved to San Diego, I truly would have regretted it for the rest of my life. I’m on a completely different path than I was before and all I had to do was just make that choice to go for it. When you learn to trust your own decisions, the world becomes your oyster!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Gosh, I still feel like a complete rookie on Instagram but I’ve learned so much along the way! The biggest challenge for me, personally, was being able to put myself out there with little to no support from the people around me. When I first started posting outfits and recommendations, etc. I really didn’t have anyone I knew in real life rooting for me or acknowledging the effort that I was putting in at that time. It was so weird to me because I knew that if the shoe was on the other foot, I would be majorly fangirling and hyping them up under every single post. That lack of support really made me feel totally self conscious.
Pairing that with the fact that Instagram was becoming trickier by the day and constantly moving goalposts, I’ve definitely been through some phases of “blah”. I’m sure we all have!
I really had to work on becoming more confident in my content and not focusing on who wasn’t cheering me on or what the algorithm was up to. I put a huge focus on just authentically showing the things I love and the cool spots I’ve visited and it’s really started to pay off!
Brands started noticing me and reaching out, I’ve gotten invited to a lot of awesome local events, and I’ve even become best friends with other girls in San Diego doing the exact same thing as me! All of these brands, local businesses, PR organizations, and new friends see my effort and completely support it which is the nicest feeling of course!
It just goes to show that there are always going to be people out there who will appreciate you for exactly who you are and what you do. That being said, I think the last thing to worry about is what anyone thinks of you because not everyone is going to get the vibe, you know? There are going to be people who think you’re the most annoying person on the planet, but sometimes they’re the ones who are also watching your every move and won’t unfollow you.
If you put your blinders on and just focus on yourself and the ones who support you, building a brand on social media will feel so much better!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is the #1 top question I get asked on social media! Here are my must see spots in my neighborhood- Little Italy, San Diego.
Morning Glory for a super fun boozy brunch
Holy Paleta for some out of this world popsicles (trust me on this one!!!)
Topsail for tapas & drinks on a rooftop overlooking the harbor. It gets nice and windy up there on a hot summer day!
Nonna for authentic Italian American food and Barbusa next door to spot Bachelor alumni if you’re into that!
Allegro for more amazing Italian food and their stunning lemon garden patio
Born & Raised for the most insanely gorgeous and over the top aesthetic. The rooftop bar is beautiful!
Mona Lisa to look at all of the different Italian food products they have and grab a delicious Deluxe Sub at their deli
Pappalecco for the best lattes, gelatos, and the sweetest Italian employees that make you feel like family!
Last but certainly not least, taking a nice stroll around the area. It’s such a cute downtown neighborhood with string lights and live music. I’d definitely also take a walk down to the harbor, seeing all the sailboats at sunset is breathtaking!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a huge shoutout to BumbleBFF for introducing me to almost every single one of my closest friends here in San Diego. A great support system is everything and I’ve found the most incredible, supportive, encouraging, badass group of women that I probably wouldn’t have met on my own. They’ve made my experience living in San Diego so much more amazing!
