We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Franck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my genuine drive and passion to help people change their lives by changing the food they eat. Educating and sharing nutrition knowledge, guiding people towards better food choices, and supporting diet shifts over a short period of time literally changes peoples health, wellness, energy, attitude, and lifestyle. When you witness small changes that change the impact of someone’s health it keeps you motivated to keep going.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a certified Nutritionist and Holistic Health Coach as well as an Organic Farmer based in the greater San Diego area. Health and wellness have always played an important role in my life but things got serious for me in 2008 when I was diagnosed with a hormonal auto-immune disorder with no cure. After spending a lot of time in and out of the doctor’s office, quickly losing hope, I decided to take my healing into my own hands. I was not interested in a lifelong prescription drug treatment that would aid in suppressing the symptoms but that never fully treat the cause of the auto-immune and help my body fight it. That’s when I transitioned into holistic medicine and began my journey to heal myself, by myself, by changing my diet, lifestyle, and exercise routine. After a couple long years of hard work, research, and dedication to myself, I healed. I have been free and clear of the auto-immune symptoms for over six years and now have dedicated a portion of my life to helping others do the same. I want to provide people the confidence that their bodies are able to heal given you provide it with the necessary nutrition. Everyone is different so finding out what works on an individual basis is my specialty. I dial into each clients bio-individuality to ensure they are getting what they need in order to heal. In my Health Unprocessed practice, I work mainly with women suffering with similar hormone issues. Through some diet, lifestyle, and exercise shifts, we support the body in the healing process and my clients come out on the other side, free and clear of their issues. This looks different for every individual which makes it challenging. I get asked to put together an online program to support women’s hormone issues all the time and I struggle to do so becuase what works for one client may not work for someone else. It’s so dialed in and individualized in order to ensure healing. My clients understand this process and are willing to make personalized changes to support their body and its healing process. This is what makes my practice and program work. I educate, clients implement, and the body heals. My husband and I also run a small organic farm in Encinitas, CA called Plant Beach Farm. We specialize in and are the headquarters for the young produce movement in southern California. Young produce is more advantageous than mature leafy greens for three reasons; 7 to 40 times more nutrition, more enzymes, and expandingly less cellulose. Cellulose in the form of your mature greens, such as spinach and kale, gets in the way of proper digestion, whereas young vegetation, such as baby greens, aids in digestion with its enzyme packed content. Most people aren’t aware of the potential dangers of moderate daily cellulose consumption. Another interesting fun fact regarding cellulose is that the daily recommended fiber intake decreases 20% once we hit the age of 50. Generally, people think it is the opposite. Too much fiber, like cellulose, actually leeches and depletes minerals like calcium from the digestive tract. Everything we do at the Plant Beach Farm has a medicinal value. Our goal is to educate the local community on high quality products, organic produce, and important elements that support a healthy body. We run a farmstand that is open to the public so if I am not working with clients you can find me working the farm stand. You can learn more about my Health Unprocessed practices in my upcoming book.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego is one of the BEST places to live in my opinion. We reside in Encinitas which to me is one of the greatest cities in America. It is a Mecca for health and wellness, lifestyle and work balance, exercise, insane high quality food, adventure, and incredible beach going. Some of my favorite spots are listed below: Ponto Beach Moonlight Beach Beacons Grand view Swamis Haggos Tacos Fish 101 Nectarine Grove Better Buzz Lotus Cafe Plant Beach Farm
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and their Health Coaching program. Without their program and certification I wouldn’t have the success I have today with my Health Unprocessed coaching business.
