We had the good fortune of connecting with Santana Maynard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Santana, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Perseverance, No matter how difficult things get, if you want it bad enough, you keep going. If one thing isn’t working, try a different approach. Never give up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started singing professionally at age 9 years old. I even opened for Brad Paisley! My mother and grandparents loved to hear me sing. They were very encouraging but as the years grew on, I got more into acting and becoming an influencer on Social Media.

I wouldn’t be here today if not for my family. They helped me go to Marshall University while I worked remotely online to maintain a presence in the entertainment industry. I started Marshall University at 13 years old and was the youngest to ever graduate at 19 with 3 degrees in Criminal Justice, Education and Japanese; and a minor in Integrated Science and Biotechnology.

After graduating, I still wasn’t making enough money to support myself so I became a teacher for a couple of years. I saved up and quit, moving out to Los Angeles to pursue a full time acting career while continuing my social media presence through content creation and cosplay. I am most known for my comedy chops; but I am constantly taking classes and trying to improve myself.

My journey was extremely difficult and without friends and family along the way, I would not be where I am now. But I never would have gotten started if not for my mother Sandy Maynard and my wonderful grandparents Donald and Hercie Maynard.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is a lot I love about Los Angeles California. I love going to The Trails Cafe to grab lunch and then hiking up to the Observatory right after.

I highly recommend the abandoned zoo at Griffith Park.

The night life in downtown Burbank is a lot of fun as well. Every Friday there is a culture festival that I love attending; and shopping on Magnolia is my favorite street to find really cool vintage wear.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother, Sandy Maynard. She has been so supportive in my efforts to move out to Los Angeles CA and pursue my entertainment career. She is going through a lot, taking care of her daddy and having very little time for herself. I work as hard as I do every day for my family to make sure that they are financially taken care of in hopes they can retire more easily.
