We had the good fortune of connecting with Samara “Honey” Lovell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samara “Honey”, how do you define success?
This question is always wild to me. Not because there is anything wrong with it, just because I feel like we are so trained as a society to think of it in terms of financial success. I think success is very personal and subjective. Personally I define success as happiness. I don’t mean living in the clouds, constantly smiling happiness. But feeling content in your personal goals and place in the world. Whether that be, loving your job, being a parent, reaching personal goals, taking a class…. for each person the definition is so different and should be. But unfortunately society makes success seem like you’re tackling a million things at once while also being wealthy and physically attractive. That’s the issue. Success for me is internally feeling satisfied with where I’m at in life. I think once you reach that the other stuff comes easier.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a cosmetic tattooer! So basically I tattoo faces:) I currently provide natural looking brows, freckles and lip blush for my clients. I fell into this career while working in the tattoo industry. They say people can have many different careers in their life and for me that has definitely been true. This career is challenging and takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be successful. You have to know to keep going, keep learning and stick with it until it clicks. I want people to know that my brand/work is a representation of myself. I give 100 percent to what I do and take it very seriously. People spend their hard earned money with me, they choose to come to me and I will never take that for granted. To me that means never stagnating, and constantly growing to better serve my clients.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am the worst at answering this! I’m such a homebody, and my ideal day is being at home with my animals, probably working on some aspect of my business or my shop. Maybe finding a great vegan restaurant? I think my friends would agree they wouldn’t have me be the one to plan an exciting week. Haha. Maybe come to my new shop “Crybaby Tattoo” and get tattooed;) See how I added that in there?:)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say, the people in my life. It’s really that simple. The people I surround myself with are kind and empathetic to others in this world and that is the basis of who I am. This then seems to flow over into my clientele. So I am lucky enough to live with, work with and work for wonderful people. My family, friends and clients are what make my life what it is. For that I am endlessly thankful.
