We had the good fortune of connecting with Saloni Patil and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saloni, what principle do you value most?
Honesty has been a core value in my life from the time I was a child to even now as I progress through adulthood. I value honesty because it empowers me to live a life that is rooted in authenticity. When I am honest with myself I can be truthful about what I am feeling, thinking, and experiencing. Moreover, I have found that this value manifests itself in my relationships, writing, passions, and experiences. There is so much freedom in living an honest life because I don’t have to pretend or be inconsistent, I simply show up as myself in every situation. Moreover, I have learned that when I am honest about who I am, the people around me feel inspired to do the same. It is a chain reaction that motivates everyone to live by their own truths, which I think is very beautiful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As someone who is passionate about health, wellness, and intentional living, I created my blog in an effort to channel my creative voice while writing honest and authentic pieces centered around how healthy living is multi-faceted and an ongoing process. I believe that small habits and changes with your mindset/body everyday are what help us lead a happy and healthy life. Moreover, I beleive that everyone is capable of living a life that is rooted in wellness and intentionality. To me, wellness exceeds drinking green juice every day or eating kale (though I love both of those things), wellness encompasses how we engage with our environment, how we treat people, and how carry ourselves. I hope to explore this more through my writing, and the words that I share with others. Additionally, the experience that I have had as a writer and creative has been so rewarding. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have to connect and work with like-minded individuals who all teach me something new. Especially this past year, I have made a conscious effort to push myself out of my comfort zone and take on new creative projects. I have been sharing my writing more and spending the time to make sure that my own voice echoes through my words. Of course, it has been a big learning experience. The most important lesson I have taken from this past year is that any idea is worth pursuing, and exploring. In other words, I don’t treat my ideas as “dumb” or “not possible.” Instead, I believe that the idea sparked for a reason. I think this challenges me to write on new topics, ideas, and to reflect on my own experiences more thoroughly. I have also learned that putting yourself out there is so important. As a freelance writer, I am constantly reaching out to magazines and small, grassroots publications to share my work. Though it can be nerve-wracking and requires a level of persistence, it has helped me develop more confidence and inspired me to grow as a writer. All in all, I hope that sharing my own experiences, advice, and lessons along the way will uplift my readers to take steps towards living a life that is fulfilling and uniquely their own!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my mom. She is truly the best person I know. When I reflect on where I am in my life and career, I know that I could not have done it without her support. She always encourages me to follow my heart and go after my dreams, all while listening to my many stories, providing me with advice, and sharing her wisdom. My mom embodies all of the qualities that I admire, honesty, courage, resilience, patience, and compassion. I hope to exemplify all of these qualities as I grow as a woman, and even one day when I become a mother.
