Meet Ryan Greenspan | Professional Paintball Player & Paintball Equipment Manufacturer

We had the good fortune of connecting with ryan greenspan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ryan, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
When coming up with a plan, a product or a play, or really anything that you plan to succeed with, I feel it is very important to be as precise as possible. While this seems like a no brainer and everyone can look at their “plan” and see that they have prepared fully for the success, it is not always that easy. I have a habit of being hyper critical of my own actions and of every product design element or launch. I tend to lean on the side of giving too much value in a product or experience to make sure the customer or end user has the best experience. In my opinion this is a great habit to have, but it can cause delays and put a lot of workload on a design team or actual teammates when developing the final plan. It is, however, important to surround yourself with a team that can and is open to challenging your ideas. I have a strong team that is prepared to question and challenge some of my ideas, no matter how new or old the teammate is, I encourage that type of relationship. When you are launching a product or dialing in a game plan, you have to flip it on its head, compare your plan to competitors and be as precise as possible. It is ok to be a perfectionist, you want your product to be a representation of you. I am proud of every plan and launch that I have ever been a part of, and that is important.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a multiple time world champion professional paintball player. I just wrapped up my 20th season as a player and team owner. Currently, I am ranked #1 in the world, which is a great achievement and it is a complement to focus, hard work and taking chances. I am also a partner in a paintball marker manufacturer. We launched our flagship product, “The Force,” one year ago and it has been a top product in int’s category. We have received praise for everything from the packaging and design to the overall performance of the marker.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love anything near the beach, so views are important to me and to anyone who visits. Depending on who is in town, and the time of the year, I may take a friend to the cove and swim through the caves. There are also a few small secret beaches dotting the La Jolla coastline that I take my daughter, fiancé and I frequent often during the summer. As far as other activities, I love to play golf at Coronado’s course, I recently took a business partner out there. I think that is one of San Diego’s best courses as far as a view is concerned. I am also a member of the Seaforth yacht club, so we rent sailboats from time to time and that is always a great time! Sailing is a fun pastime of mine!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my teammates, my business partners, every design team that I have worked along side of and especially to my Fiancé Camille. The support of family is important when launching products and traveling the world. Camille lends a helping hand to approve some of my final designs.
