We had the good fortune of connecting with Rian LaNasa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rian, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Balancing work and life has t be one of the toughest challenges I face. I work seven days a week, I am on a non-stop hustle. I go stir- crazy if I sit in a place for too long, with that said, that has to be why balancing work and life is SO important to me. I like to keep myself busy but can get very frusturated with how packed my days are. What I like to do to keep myself busy but give me that extra day of relief, is entertain myself with going to the beach or taking a hike. A lot of days now, it consists of trying out DIY projects at home, but keeping myself outdoors helps me bring steadiness to my life. It has taken me a long time to get to the place to tell myself I deserve and can have a day to myself. I have literally had my friends and family force me to take a day off and go do something else than work! I can definitely say I have changed for the better. My balance of work and life is at it’s all time best in my crazy schedule. I get major FOMO , and getting to take those moments for myself and getting to have more experiences and memories with my family and friends has been truly well worth taking off those extra days of work. BALANCE IS KEY! I would get frusturated at my work and start to not enjoy going to work, and it shouldn’t feel that way when you’re doing something you love!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started working as a Bridal stylist and Marketing director for Archive Bridal at the beginning of 2020 and have progressed so much since entering this industry! I originally started out as a bridal stylist and learning how the wedding industry works and such, after three months or learning the designers and how gowns are made and fit for brides, I became the Marketing director for Archive Bridal. It was definitely not easy, I had to do a lot of research and put a lot of hours into where I am today. After entering the wedding industry, I realized how much actually goes into it, from the florals to the table/chair rentals. There is A LOT of detail when it comes to weddings! I started involving myself with more wedding campaigns and styled bridal shoots. You get to learn a lot from being behind the scenes with all of the teamwork that makes a wedding truly look magical. I have learned to keep networking and say YES to every opportunity that presents itself. I have started expanding our brand by being more open minded to strategies in ensuring our brides/couples have the best day of their lives while looking breathtaking!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to start off at Le Papagayo in Leaucadia for mimosas to start the day! Le Papagayo is my all time favorite breakfast spot right on the coast! Sometimes they even have live music to make it more of a party! Obviously have to hit the beach if you’re in the #1 surf city ever! My favorite beach to go to is Carlsbad State beach, it’s walking distance to Carlsbad Village and it’s so open! You’ll always find a spot on the beach! We would go have lunch at Home & Away, ultimately the best place to get drinks and food! The overall vibe of this resturaunt is more than what you could ask for! The team there is always so energetic and kind! I go there almost every week (when it’s open)! We would have to go shopping at UTC mall most definitely. UTC mall has everything, it’s like you are a kid walking into a candy store! I would visit Omni La Costa Resort & Spa for some drinks and pool time to finish up our beach day! The Omni resort is so accomodating and so beautiful! One of my favorite places to relax after work or even when I just need a tan. I would end the night at either Park 101 or Barrel Republic! Both of these resturaunts have impeccable drinks and food! You can’t go wrong with either! At Barrel Republic right now, I am loving their Jalapeno mac and cheese! Park 101 has live music as well and it adds so much fun to your night out!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are four people I have to recognize who have pushed me to be where I am today. My mother, Kimberly Gillis, is the most badass influential woman you will ever meet. My mother raises six kids while juggling her own business, Studio Barre Encinitas. I still call my mom to get her opinion and thoughts on every single move I make whether it’s in my career, friends, relationships, etc. She will always have the answer. My mother motivates me everyday, I kid you not when I say you don’t what hardwork is until you see her schedule. She has grown her business into something so incredible. She is my definition of ‘goals’. Next, my bestfriend Sam Stechel, my biggest cheerleader every single day. I wouldn’t be where I am without her encouraging me to go for what I want. She is one of the people who would sit there and yell at me to take a break! Sam pushes me to do whatever I desire and even If i fail, she doesn’t let me quit ANYTHING! My motivator is my boss Paulette Khoury, the owner of Archive Bridal and Pleats Dry cleaning services. She is insane in the best type of way! This woman owns two businesses and continues to prove to everyone that the impossible can be done. Paulette is the definition ‘a woman of many hats.’ Lastly, I definitely would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for my bestfriend Joseph Delegge. He is the reason I am still here. This man shoves me to go for the risks that I think are untouchable. Joe would always have me start at the top and if I couldn’t be at the top immediately, then he would help me figure out how am I going to get there. Joe has done literally every job in the book, he could design/build you a front porch and fix your car all within the same day. He is the most remarkable man I have ever gotten the pleasure to have known. I lost Joe tragically this past year to a horrific incident. This past year has been one of the hardest yet, but everyday I wake up trying live more like Joe, as I think everyone should. These four people have helped shaped me into the young entrepreneurial woman I am. I can only wish to be as strong as them.
