We had the good fortune of connecting with Quazon Tidwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quazon, how do you think about risk?
The word “risk” was a scary word to me because I am not able to predict a definite outcome when risk are taken. Within all the risk I have take in life and business I have learned some valuable lessons. Those lessons are as follows…

1st. I realize that I am making a “choice” to challenge the unknown/risk in hopes that the outcome will be in my favor.

2nd. Before making a choice to challenge a risk I must research write down pros and cons so I can feel good and confident
about taking the risk.
3rd. Once I have made the choice to take a risk my job is to pay more attention to the experience and the process not the
outcome. By doing this I now realize that I never really loose, the words risk and fear disappears from my mind. My new
mindset is “this is what I must do to gain experience and learn process.” No matter what the end result will be
the ultimate goal is to create a experience and process for myself and others.
So with all this being said I’m no longer taking risks in my mind I’m making good choices. With that mindset
you would be the one taking a risk on me. All I have to do now is convince as to why one should put they money
on me, believe in me and so on…Risk has made me strong because I am not afraid to explore the unknown, that is
all a risk is to me “The unknown.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always say “everything is art if you tilt your head to the side.” My art is my life so I don’t try to hard at it. The canvas is my day and early in the morning I begin to paint… Purple: Giving thanks to the creator. Red: Self evaluating and being better than I was yesterday. Green: Running towards issues and challenges and not running away. Sky Blue: The Impact I want to have on the world. Black: Guide lines or a structure that I want to operate under that is going to hold me together and allow my life/art to flourish. That is my philosophical view on what art is to me. There is a art in nature making new friends relationships style of dress conversations and so on. Materializing what I do is a reflection of me. I created the title 360 artist because I enjoy all areas of art. From sculptures, abstract painting, graffiti art, customized cars, motorcycles, music and dance to learning about the greatest greatest creation ever “the human body and its functions.” One of my strong points is taking something that is already there and making it better. That would lead me in the direction of customizing t-shirts pullover hoodies jeans and jean jackets. People would give me new or used clothing and I would make it better than it was before and the people loved it. Business was good but It was hard to meet the demand for my custom work. I am only one man how can I impact the world doing 10 to 15 custom orders per week? I was burning myself out energy wise and It was at this point I thought to create a clothing line that inspires people. I Googled powerful words and I chose the words… Passionate Outstanding Optimistic Giving Abundant Heathy and “POOGAH Nation” was born! I strive to maintain all 6 words in my personal life daily. If I could inspire the world to do the same then I know I got myself a real brand. (Become a POOGAH and lets make it a POOGAH Nation!) That is my slogan.
This is something I can believe in and stand by. I became EXCITED to carry this message expressing my art in clothing and I enjoy telling people what POOGAH Nation means with the up most confidence.
There are many people in the world who do what I do and are just as talented. I have no degree and I had a problem with self doubt. I still do at times when competition is involved due to me thinking I lacked creativity against someone who was more creative. And also not having the proper paperwork society said I needed to say that I am a professional.
I read in a book that education is not a degree, education is the the knowledge and experience I acquire to accomplish a goal. If this is true then that means I am a very educated man conducting myself professionally at all times without a degree in fashion or art. I encourage going to college but do not spend 6 years in college and graduate without experience, you are not a professional. Reading that has helped me overcome and achieve. Anyone who is better it isn’t my job to be better than them but to learn from them and be better for myself. From there I realized all I have to do is want it, I put the work in and the universe will adjust for me and my burning desire because that is what I want.
Anyone who knows me will tell you “Quazon is good at everything he is involved in” I am most known for being a Hairstylist, another art I was horrible at in the beginning. My learning process is always relentless and In 2 years time I was one of the best licensed stylist in Los Angeles with a celebrity clientele.
what sets me apart from most is there is nothing I feel I can not do because I payed attention to my learning process. I use the same process in everything I do not know how to do.
Every time I’m learning I hit a wall because I have to repeat the process over and over again. Over time its like someone turned on the lights for me in the middle of the dark because all the sudden I get it. Once I get It I must keep at it until skill sets in and that is when the real fun starts. Now that Iv become skilled I can now create new ways or manipulate and bring change to what I learned.
Now that is real art!
What I want the world to know about my brand story is that I was not Passionate I didn’t feel Outstanding. I was not Optimistic for the future. I did not always feel my life was Abundant. I wasn’t always a giving person and I did not always feel Healthy. Today I am my brand and the road to becoming POOGAH was not a easy one because it required discipline. I had to let go of some habits to get where I want to be. I want to encourage you that you can do it also by becoming a POOGAH. Be Passionate, be Outstanding, be Optimistic, believe your life is Abundant, be giving and do your best to live a healthy life style… Becoming POOGAH will change your life!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A friend coming to visit me In Los Angeles for a week I would introduce them to the things I personally enjoy. The things I enjoy when spending time with myself. Day 1. I love ocean views so the 1st thing I would do is take them to breakfast at Hennessey’s in Hermosa beach up top in the bar area. Leaving there we go for a drive along the beach shore line to Dana Point then drive back up to Huntington beach for the night life. Day2. Show off my cooking skills and make breakfast. Take you to Majic Mountain for roller costar fun and after we would have to pass the 101 south freeway where Id show you Hollywood. We would eat at Yamashiro restaurant at the top of the hill where an amazing view of Los Angeles is.
Day3. Boat ride to Catalina Island for spa day and relaxation.
Day4. Morning we go downtown to feed the homeless, everyone should know our city’s need us in certain areas, later that evening we go to a Laker game or football game at Staples or the new SoFi Stadium.
Day5. We do whatever they want to do or whatever it is they want to accomplish on a LA trip.
Day6. We driving to San Diego for Crab Town crab legs with more ocean views and Gaslamp District night life.
Day7. Horse back riding in Palos Verdes at my friends ranch and a comedy show on Sunset.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
1st Andrea Dorsey of the Cherri Cheeks swimsuit line. In the beginning stages through the support of one another we were able to accomplish so much in a short period of time.
2nd James Williams who is a strong believer in me and what I do he is my right hand man.
3rd. Reese Coxx who is now my creative director. I’m grateful for her help in my design indecisions and investments in the
brand.
