We had the good fortune of connecting with Phoenix Yang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phoenix, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
To see the world I created inspired by my travels makes people happy, and see what I see.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
-Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, I would say that my style of art and fashion is a mixture of the Eastern and the Western, inspired by years of traveling around Asia and Europe. I enjoy putting different elements I gained along the trips into my works a lot. For example, our signature product, the essential oil perfumes, are inspired by the memories of trips to Paris, London, Venice, Tokyo and California. The pictures symbolizing different scents on the bottles of perfume are taken by me along the trips. I am so happy to create perfumes with my sense of smell, inspired by my sense of vision, and share them with all of our customers and friends
The next steps of my journey would set off in Africa and the Middle East, and I would more than excited to share all the stories and immerse them into my designs.

-what you are most proud of or excited about.
I started my design career in fashion, and now my creating methods have extended to perfuming, photography, ikebana, set design, and interior styling.

-How did you get to where you are today professionally.
reading, traveling, collaborating with different people, visiting exhibitions around the world.

-Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
it was hard in the beginning to keep a financial balance, and to find the way to adjust myself to fit into the market.
What I realized after a few years is that it would alway a good way to take a break and travel, that makes me see the things i made much clearly. So that i could figure out how to improve.

-What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
1.Never follow other people’s steps and never look down on yourselves.
2.’’Drawing attention to something that amazes, excites or stimulates is often enough. Make the most of what you have seen or experienced. If it fascinates you, it is likely to fascinate others. Creativity can be as simple as pointing out something incredible that everyone else hasn’t noticed. Note down anything that astounds you, no matter how small. You never know when you might be able to use it. If it left an impression on you, it will leave an impression on others.
‘Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.’-Edgar Degas’’ quoted from ‘The Art of Creative Thinking’ by Rod Judkins, 2015.

-What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I would alway be willing to invite people to join this journey of senses, where contemporary arts blooms with Zens and a hint of French romantic simplicities.

I would give my special thanks to a very special friend I met in Fullerton this April. He is the most patient, kind, thoughtful person I ever met. We shared many similarities in different aspects of our lives even we are from different sides of Pacific Ocean. He lift up my world with his expects for his new chapter of life, like no one else. The serendipity led us to meet, and made an incredible impact on my life, where I never found the reason to live it out before. He made me see the possibilities of my life and love this world for the first time.
