We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Peter, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is like trying to climb up an escalator that’s going down. There’s a lot of steps, each one a little higher than the last. But the second you stop moving forward, you’re going back down. Each step can mean different things to different people. It’s all based on how you look at it. For some, they’re always looking for the top. The problem is, it doesn’t exist. Sure you can get pretty high up (Fame and fortune) but that alone won’t magically satisfy you if/when you get there. If you’re not able to find joy in your current space, then more success won’t magically fix your problems. If anything it can make them worse. Currently for me, success means that I get to wake up everyday and do what I love while making some money from it. 10 years ago I’d have given ANYTHING to be where I’m at now. Sure, I have my down days where I feel like I’m not doing enough, but when I look back at how far I’ve come it really drives me to keep going, and keep hitting my goals!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music is apart of me. Every song I write has some personal connection to me and my life. I feel that can make the music more genuine and people feel like they can connect with it more. I also love to record covers of my favorite songs. It’s fun to be able to put my own style into songs that influenced me along my journey. One of my most recent covers I put out has over 100,000 streams across platforms and has been used in a few commercials and countless social media creations. It’s exciting to see a piece of work I did out there being enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people all over the world! If I’ve learned anything along the way, it’s that sometimes the best opportunities come when you least expect it. Never give up and never stop grinding! because you could have something waiting for you right around the corner. And you’ll never know it if you give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love my little area of San Diego. Encinitas is such a peaceful and inspiring place! Anyone who comes to visit will have to join me on my walks on the beach. I love to just walk and look out into the ocean. Listening to the waves crashing on the shore. It never fails to spark some inspiration in me and give me fresh ideas. Another must do is picking up some fresh Coffee! We have so many local Coffee Roasters in Encinitas alone. My go to though is Lofty Coffee! Not only is their coffee amazing, but their Roastery location here in Encinitas has such a chill vibe. I can sit there for hours reading a book or writing songs and just feel at peace. As far as food goes, we got everything you could want here in Encinitas. Just take a stroll down PCH and you’ll come across countless amazing Restaurants and Bars. You’ll never run out of new places to try!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest motivator and support system is my friend and fellow Artist, Profyt (Moses Holman). He is a very talented Rapper and Writer who has such a beautiful outlook on life. He always knows just what to say to get you motivated and fired up! Also a huge inspiration for me is David Goggins and his book “Can’t Hurt me”. David’s story is truly inspiring and is always sitting in the back of my mind so I can pull from it when I need a boost.
