We had the good fortune of connecting with Paola “Lola” Pujols and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paola “Lola”, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
‘Living Openly, Loving Always increases healing,” is an affirmation that has transcended from a way of living to the acronym of my wellness business. To me, it has become a reminder to stand firmly in your personal power with integrity. In doing so, accepting all aspects of yourself, especially those that are perceived as ‘bad,’ become the catalyst for self love. I believe if everyone adopted the practice of having compassion with Self during all stages of life, not only would they understand themselves on a greater level, they would be more willing to understand those around them. Which is needed in this society, more so now than ever.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lolaxheals is a spiritual wellness brand with the mission to assist others in facilitating their healing and mind/body integration while utilizing massage therapy, energy work and creativity as modalities of choice. My claircognizance strengthens my abilities as an intuitive reader, massage therapist and energy therapist. The foundation of my brand is set on the values of practicing compassion while providing a safe space for my clients to show up as they are, with no judgment.
As well as running my spiritual practice, I am a creative entrepreneur.
Under the same program, I received a certification for Holistic Health, certifications for Reiki level I & II, and a license for massage therapy. I have been in practice for 2 and a half years now. In those 2 years, I simultaneously embraced my love for modeling and writing. What a journey it has been! All of these avenues though synchronically stumbled into my hands, they are all expressions of my spirit. My healing abilities reflect my empathy. My love for words reflect gift of story telling, a gift passed down by my ancestors. My passion for the camera reflect the years of self-acceptance.
Considering the line of work I do, it is all very intimate and personal to me. The challenges I faced were difficult because they mostly required me to face aspects of my being that were damaging to myself and others. Anyone who has been in that position before understands how difficult processing that level of introspection can be, because at that point you have to make the choice to improve for the better or keep repeating the same behaviors/patterns and that process can take years for some. Which is why my brand is geared towards assisting those making the conscious choice to do better…I understand how daunting that process can be for some, so if I am capable of alleviating a bit of that stress, why not make that journey lighter for someone else?
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend still live in my hometown of The Bronx, NY and she has YET to come visit me after all these years, can you believe it?!
Straight off the plane, I’m taking to her to either Better Buzz (vanilla latte for the win) in Hillcrest or The Hamlett Coffee shop (Beet x Rose Latte is a must!).
We share a love for iced coffee and these places are my all time favorite caffeine pick me ups in San Diego.
Afterwards, we’re going to stroll down to Sunset Cliffs. I personally believe the best time to go to the Cliffs, is anytime! The ocean and views are so captivating. I would take her down to my secret spot (down the stairs, iykyk😉) so we can get up close and personal with the waves while watching surfers do their thing in the water.
There was are so many delicious restaurants in SD! For a late lunch, we would head to Tiramisu Trattoria for my favorite, Cavatelli Di Ricotta and their fine choices of wine. This is my current favorite Italian restaurant, located in La Mesa, SD. The owner David and his team are so accommodating, it makes dining there extremely pleasant.
For a night outing, you already know I’m taking my girl down to Gaslamp Quarter. If it’s a Wednesday night, you can catch us hitting out 1 2 3’s at Sevilla Nightclub for their Salsa & Bachata lessons. We’re both Dominican so dancing with Latin Flare is a no brainer!
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
Wow, this is a tough one because I’ve received so much love and support from many different directions. Shoutout to all of my loved ones, family & friends who embrace my vibrancy and support whatever it is I am fixated on at the moment, haha!
My older sister Hilfa, deserves the biggest shoutout of all. If it wasn’t for her, I would not be where I am today…not physically nor spiritually. She has been one of the biggest influences in my life since I was playing with Barbies and she continues to be a grounding force. I love you sister!!
