We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, what do you want your legacy to be?
I would like to be remembered for a couple of things. First, I would like to be remembered as the “life of the party” and “hostess with the mostess”, and not in a superficial way, but in an inclusive way. I want people to remember our gatherings and hosting as a space to be themselves without fear of judgment. We want to be remembered as kind, I think the world needs more kindness these days! We want The Fowler Houses legacy to be remembered as a company and space that treated people the way they wanted to be treated.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Fowler House is an event space that we recently renovated to accommodate short-term rentals. Nestled in the Jamul hills of Fowler Canyon, The Fowler House has been a long-time, family-owned property. This hidden gem is open to the public for privately hosted events. Reminiscent of a coastal Hampton’s style property, the venue sits on a little over eight acres of land and hosts multiple location options for your next event. The Fowler House offers space for weddings, baby showers, bachelorette/bachelor parties, corporate, etc. We pride ourselves on offering a tranquil all-inclusive space for guests.

This was a challenging project to get off the ground, I come from a professional project management background and I always joke that this was the hardest project I have ever had to start, manage, and complete. You try telling your parents that they don’t know technology and are wrong 😉 There are 3 owners (family) and we all have a lot of opinions. The hardest part was getting us all to see eye to eye on the big picture. There were a lot of heated discussions over cocktails, tears over dinners, anything you could argue about we did but finally we just got in a groove once we saw our efforts yield success.

We have learned a lot along the way but the most important thing I think we have all collectively learned is compassion is key. With Covid hitting everyone so hard we did everything we could to accommodate our guests, times were/are hard and we want to lead with compassion on the decisions we make.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man, stop number 1 is definitely Bali Hai for a Mr. Bali Hai. There is a limit of 2 per person so you suck down two of those babies and uber towards downtown. Downtown you head over to punch bowl social and remind your best friend that you will always beat them at bowling. Once bowling is complete you head over to Redwing and have a delicious burger and beer (shout out to Tracy for being the best bartender at Redwing!). Sing some karaoke at Redwing then finish your night at Bluefoot – the closest version of cheers in San Diego.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a shoutout to all of our friends and family. This has been a collective effort to get this space together and we would be nothing without the support of you all!
