Meet Osob Omar | Entrepreneur & Community leader

We had the good fortune of connecting with Osob Omar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Osob, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I am a first generation Somali immigrant, everything my business is and stands for is endless opportunity. Meliora Essence is a self-care, self wellness brand and that in of itself is a new concept. With a world strangled by hate and everyone trying to push the narrative of difference, Meliora is pushing self love.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The question, what are you most proud of always happens to baffle me because the fact that I even started a business will always be what I’m most proud of. Starting Meliora was one of the hardest things I think I’ve ever done, I didn’t have the obstacles of worrying about other people, and how others viewed me, My biggest obstacle was myself. I say was as if self-doubt isn’t present as currently. We as humans sometimes get so focused on the plan that we’ve written down that we sometimes forget to look at how many of those ideas we actually crossed off of our list. I am very much guilty of this,, but one of the best things I did for me, and the business was surround myself with people who have a great way of shining light on not only all my successes, but my great qualities as a person.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One thing about me is I’m the kind of person who loves to put people on to places and things that I love in any place that I step foot . Example, my friends and family will tell you I am notorious for stopping people who look like tourists and give them an itinerary of sorts. I always have the top five go to places they love to recommend first one top of my list has to be Cabrillo national Monument. Cabrillo lighthouse is Romance meets nature. Second place I love to tell people about Balboa Park. There is so much to do and something to do for everyone. You can have amazing food, go sightseeing, bargain shop with local vendors, and visit a world renowned museum all in one location. Sunset Cliffs has to be number three for me. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a relative come into town and not experience San Diego’s phenomenal sunset. Number five is Seaport Village and one fact I love to drop is that Seaport Village was brought to life by Disney Visioneers. Last and definitely not least is Mission Beach with the rides the beautiful night life, it’s family friendly, it’s vibe friendly and there is all kinds of food to chose from.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story isn’t even mine, it the my moms story and the story of all the woman and men who sacrifice life’s little moments so that someone else can smile and be happy. My mom functioned on survival mode for so long when the time came for her to let her hair down, she didn’t know how. Meliora now is providing so many people with the tools to emotionally be successful.
