We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Sandvig and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
When I was a stylist in my 20s, I was all about building my clientele. So I worked 5 to 6 days a week all day and took everyone I could. That’s what you do when your new stylist. I thrived off of long days, coffee, and hair. In my 30s, I had a beautiful daughter that maybe take a step back from the nonstop salon life. I knew I wanted to continue my career and passion while being the best mom I could be. So I went back to work and built my schedule to balance both. I work at a salon where I feel like the environment is true to the person that I am and the clientele that I want . I think balance is something you never stop working on in life .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I truly love doing hair. It is an art that takes years and years of practice and skill. I pride myself on being able to do every kind of haircut from pixies to long layers. I’m always taking up-to-date Classes on balayage and cutting to sharpen my skills . I am constantly pushing myself to step out of the box and be the best hairdresser that I can be, So I can Better serve the community . One lesson I’ve learned over the years is you cannot be stagnant in this profession.“ When you’re green you grow, when you’re ripe, you rot. “

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I’m a beach bum at heart. So first off I would go take them to Encinitas . I love the vibe of downtown ! I would take them to Cardiff state beach to soak up the sun. It’s so beautiful there . Then I would make my way north to my hometown Temecula and go out in old town. We would hit up Goat and Vine for lunch (it’s the best ) and then I would show off Rēvyvl Salon and Hair artistry where i work because anyone who comes to visit always wants to get spruced up! I love it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
