We had the good fortune of connecting with Nichole Lucas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nichole, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I was younger, I was so driven off money making and work work work mentalities. Even as a young mother, this mentality stuck with me. As I become older, I realize there is much more to life than money.

The ability to be successful and have an amazing life is a feeling like no other. Finding balance can be difficult, creating your life around your work is the key.

I eventually got to a point in my career where the grinding was impacting me more negatively, then it was positively. It’s important for us all to pay attention to how our actions our impacting us individually and those close to us.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For starters….nothing worth it is easy. I was lucky to start my career in Insurance, on the corporate side, one week after I turned 18years old.

You want to talk about hard!!! Wow!!!

We stumble and fall and continue to stumble and fall…just when we think we are good, things change. It’s been an amazing journey.

I was employed by State Farm Insurance, in many different positions from 2001 – 2022. I was able to also obtain a BS, MBA and many different insurance licenses within this time frame.

I personally knew I needed a change. However, I absolutely love insurance. Helping and educating others is a passion of mine.

I had informed my husband I was quitting my job and no clue what I was going to do next…however, I was going to take a chance on me.

Many recruiters and different businesses were always reaching out via Linked In…so I decided I would entertain a few of the interviews.

Not long after, I decided to take a leap of faith and jump into the broker world of insurance. It has, by far, been the best decision of my ENTIRE career!!

Becoming a broker allowed me freedom, options, another avenue of education and the ability to be a mom/ wife more presently than I had ever been.

I learned many lessons along the way. Stand up for yourself. Relationships matter! Work will always be waiting for you, take time off. Your family should be the priority 100%, every day.

There was a point in my life where I would have to ask for permission to go to one of my kids award ceremonies and always wonder if I was actually going to be given permission to go. In my life now, I will never have to ask to go to one of my kids award ceremonies. That feeling is unlike anything I can ever explain.

For other moms in todays world, you CAN be an amazing mom and run a great business at the same time. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Temecula is an excellent place to visit! And we are in driving distance to some pretty amazing places.

Items on my itinerary would look something like this:

Shopping at Citrus & Moss, located in Old Town Temecula.

Leoness Winery for lunch and wine tastings. Wilson Creek for the best wine slushies!!

Heading to San Diego to watch the Padres play, while eating baseball food.

LaJolla to see the seals, sea cave, shopping, beach time and food.

A day in LA to take bus tours, many photo ops, hiking & exploring and a comedy show with dinner to wrap up the night.

A day in Coronado to explore, take a boat out and soak up the sun. And check out my favorite book store.

Concert and casino time at Pechanga.

Locating Killer Dueling Pianos group and going to enjoy their amazing music/ show.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Biggest shout out to my husband, my 4 boys, friends and family. They are my backbone and support. The one’s that have encouraged me to take chances and shoot for the stars.

When others look out for your best interest….those people are gold and worth EVERY shoutout!!!

Additional Shoutout to my sales coach: Wes Schaeffer (The Sales Whisperer), many mentors, and one supervisor in my life that put more belief in me than I ever had myself!!!
