We had the good fortune of connecting with Nia Ruth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What should our readers know about your business?

Few & Far is a boutique wine club, wine shop, and event wine curator born out of a love for small production wines, building community, and giving back. The wine club delivers three bottles of hard-to-find small production wines from boutique producers around the world to members’ doorsteps. Each club release is curated by theme and each bottle comes with a custom tag that shares information about each wine and producer to enhance members’ experiences and understanding of the wines while they sip. I also source limited production wines vineyards around the world and offer them in my digital wine shop. In addition to offering single bottles, we also curate bundles for special occasions, holidays, by region, etc. The Few & Far wine shop is the perfect place to find unique bottles to expand your palate, and occasion and holiday bottles make the perfect gift! Finally, we work with event planners and organizations large and small to curate wine selections for events from farm-to-table chef paired dinners to large corporate events, to local pop-ups! We’re also proud that Few & Far supports small producers by getting their wine into the hands of wine lovers across the country, and that we have a philanthropic component to the club and donate $1 from each membership to a cause each month.

I’m lucky that the road feels smooth most days, but there have absolutely been challenges! From club-hosting platform changes to improve the member experience to navigating complex alcohol shipping regulations, I’ve come up against some tough roadblocks. However, I went into entrepreneurship knowing it wouldn’t be an easy or linear journey, so I work through each challenge one step at a time, take everything in stride, and try to take time to celebrate even the smallest wins as often as I can!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so much to do in Palm Springs, but I always start the weekend by taking visitors to happy hour on the High Bar rooftop so we can sip a delicious glass of wine while we watch the sunset over the mountains, followed by dinner at my favorite local restaurant, Bar Cecil. We’d kick off day two with a hike through Joshua Tree and a stop at the pool at Azucar to cool off with great vibes and a delicious cocktail. From there, we’d drop into Las Palmas, a natural wine bar and brewery with a cute outdoor wine garden, for a glass of wine, or the Jalama Wine Tasting Room to try some locally made wines from grapes sourced from Santa Barbara! There are so many hidden gems in Palm Springs, and it’s all about exploring and falling in love with new places!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Though there are so many people that have been integral to the success of my business, my two biggest supporters are my husband, Ken, and my sister-in-law, Savannah. Ken has supported me at every turn, is the ultimate problem solver, and helps me find a way to bring even my craziest ideas to life. Savannah is an entrepreneur herself (she’s an incredibly talented branding and web designer!), and her creativity and talent blows me away! She’s the person that made me truly believe I could start Few & Far, and helps me come up with fresh and creative ideas for the business. My life as an entrepreneur would still just be a dream if it wasn’t for Ken and Savannah, and so many others believing in me, giving me amazing advice, and cheering me on every step of the way!
