We had the good fortune of connecting with Nazli Takesh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nazli, why did you pursue a creative career?

Well, I actually think this career pursued me. Prior to yoga I didn’t consider myself a creative person (which is silly – when given the right tools, everyone is creative! It’s in our nature). As I began working in the wellness industry and I was able to create and brainstorm and bring to life ideas that for so long were just thoughts and dreams … I knew I had found a space I could thrive in. Fast forward many years, and I am absolutely in love with my career because of the creative flexibility I have. I get to create classes, trainings, retreats, workshops — all while staying true to my desires and passions. I don’t have to fake anything to receive students or clients, I get to be so me that sometimes I’m still blown away that this is what I get to do. Also, I get to work alongside and collaborate with other extremely talented and creative individuals, it’s amazing!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

While I teach yoga, breathwork, and meditation, one of my favorite tools to introduce people to is sound healing. I work with crystal singing bowls and crystal alchemy bowls (and a few other instruments) in creating deep and beautiful meditative experiences. This piece of my journey actually has come quite easily. I have so much fun creating sound baths and working with beautiful instruments that impact us in such a deep way, that as soon as I started offering my services publicly it has been extremely smooth. But I also had 8 years of working my butt off in the wellness industry (and still do) to make some of these transitions and creations a little more easeful.

Something I have learned is that you should never be afraid to humbly brag about your talents and offerings. I hope you are so in love with the work that you do and are confident in your abilities, that you want to tell everyone! It’s hard to not compare and have imposter syndrome, but I learned early on that there is only one of me — and I deliver my lessons/classes/experiences in my own unique way, so in essence, I am never competing with anyone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well because I always want to be outside we would hit up: Sunset Cliffs and La Jolla shores. We’d take a yoga class on Law St in PB. We are definitely going hiking out east, and probably take them to Julian for the day, and Idyllwild for a night or two.

We’d eat at a vegan spot or two: Plumeria is delicious. I like to cook so I’m most likely cooking for them most days. A little shopping and drinks in North or South Park too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow this is a hard one because SO many people have supported me along the way. My family for supporting my non-conventional path every step of the way, and my fiance who has listened to me talk for hours and hours about ideas and goals and creations and has been a backbone in supporting everything I want to do. I’ve also made some amazing friends through this work, and Kelly & Justice deserve a shout out because we have collaborated on many projects and they are both AMAZING businesswomen and friends.
