We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Vega and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My purpose was just to throw all ages events. To create a safe space for all ages, backgrounds and genres.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Natalie, I’m a mom, entrepreneur, w-2er, and humanitarian.

I always knew I wanted to leave a legacy and create something bigger than myself…but it wasn’t until after being intubated and woke up from my coma of 3 weeks and having to learn to walk again that I realized life is too short…I realized I had to reevaluate my expectations and figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted better for my kids and myself. How I could do that…? and do what I love…?

By day I’m an office administrator for a local Asphalt company. We are the only asphalt company in the US to use recycled products in our asphalt. I have experience in Real Estate self-directed retirement accounts, how to structure businesses correctly to help avoid paying the most amount of taxes, and charity state and federal compliance. In my spare time, I’m President of The Backfence Society! We have several different programs. I am president but I also run a music program called ELEVATED760.

I’ve always loved live music ever since my first house show. I was 12 and my cousin took me…I went to a few other sketchy ones after but always had the best time! I want the next generation to experience that…the rush of going to a live music event minus the sketchiness.

During each event my favorite part is just to look around and just kind of be in awe of everything and what my team and I created. That rush never goes away…I’ve always had the vision to run events I started and blossomed that vision with my previous nonprofit, I quit in November 2021 due to unforeseen circumstances. Luckily, I was positioned in a place to be able to recreate this program and continue working on growing the music art and vendor community with and through Backfence Society.

Before I came on board to Backfence Society they have been doing amazing work in the community and building a safe space for artists, musicians, and vendors. I just want to continue that and grow myself, Backfence, and others along the way:)

It’s very humbling remembering where I came from, where and who I started this with, who has come and gone since, and where I am now…simply surreal…
This program has given me such purpose, and drive and has reignited my passion.

Through ELEVATED760 we throw and allow others to throw DIY shows along with other events and currently developing a program to help musicians, artists & vendors structure their business and give them a solid foundation for a successful business. My experience will help them with creating, structure, and systemizing business models. I want to share my knowledge with others so that we can grow our local communities, businesses, and lives while growing ourselves.

IF YOU KNOW ANY BANDS, HAVE A BAND, OR JUST STARTING OUT IN MUSIC HIT US UP!

SAME FOR ARTISTS AND VENDORS! WE’RE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR YOU GUYS!!!

ALSO IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER AND LEARN HOW TO THROW YOUR OWN EVENTS PLEASE REACH OUT! I CANT DO THIS ON MY OWN:)

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots all depend on what the vibe for the weekend is…if its hanging out on the couch I know some great restaurants to doordash…If we want to get fancy I know some great places for that also both in North County and Downtown…or if we’re just going go out I have some oldie but goodie places and if were feeling adventurous know exactly where to go explore, I know of some fun places I haven’t tried yet:)

I just know I better get an invite haha

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shout-out to my old Nonprofit. Thank you for being the vessel to get me to where I am now…Also, to all the people I met since then and to all the people I’m going to meet…I’m so grateful for all of you and I am honored to be President of The Backfence Society and to watch everyone’s growth and see how far you’ve all come! Also to Sarah Spinks and my kids!
