We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Gill + Meg Blancato and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie Gill +, how do you think about risk?
Everything about starting and growing a business is a risk, really. The longer you are in business, the more you are able to use past learning experiences to weigh out risk vs. reward. However, what has been instrumental in the growth of our business has been believing, unabashedly, that we can and will do anything we put our minds to, which gives “risk” a whole new meaning. It’s not about whether we will or won’t, it’s about how we will and when.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Flowering is an exceptional art because it holds such significance for people. Not only have we had the opportunity to flower countless weddings, baby showers, and birthdays but also to offer the smallest smile in the wake of loss. For what better way to say, “I love you and I’m here,” when there are no words to say? It is a beautiful, emotional and humbling gift to be able to create for people. We are so proud of the team we have trained, the space we have created, and the mission we set out every day to achieve – to make the world a better place by creating beautiful flowers for life’s most important occasions and your everyday. It was not easy – it’s still not “easy” but we love it. We are learning so much every day and have so much still to learn – you always will if you’re business is growing!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Goodness, there are so many rad places in San Diego – where to start? Aside from hanging at both Native Poppy locations, we’d definitely be eating and drinking at Campfire and Jeune et Jolie, You & Yours, Tribute, and Morning Glory. Lots of slow walks through the neighborhoods of South Park and a facial from Shop Good. If it’s Spring, we’re exploring the Carlsbad Flower Fields and harvesting from our own garden!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
“The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield changed everything for us. It is a book that absolutely everyone should read, not only for business, but for a holistically better and happier life!
