Meet Mike Mireles

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Mireles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, I got into this business because I wanted to make a real difference. I’m mostly a wedding DJ—sure, I’ll take on the occasional other event, but weddings are really my thing. That’s why I proudly call myself a professional wedding DJ.
Growing up, I went to a lot of weddings, and I started noticing a pattern: the same songs, the same announcements, even the same DJ setups. It all started to blend together. Nothing really stood out. That stuck with me.
So when I started my own business, my goal was simple: shake things up a bit. I wanted to bring a fresh, personalized approach to every wedding I’m a part of. I never want couples to feel like they’re getting a cookie-cutter DJ experience. I want them to see that I care—not just about the music, but about them, their story, and making their big day feel truly one-of-a-kind.
I’m big on planning together, getting to know each couple, and creating something that feels unforgettable. I’m not trying to be the star of the show—my job is to help create the atmosphere for one of the best days of their lives.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career choice is a Wedding Professional (Wedding DJ, MC and Officiant). What started as mixing tracks in my bedroom turned into a full-blown passion for creating wedding moments that feel as good as they look. For over 20 years, I’ve been behind the turntables or ceremony script, helping couples turn their love stories into unforgettable wedding celebrations. I genuinely love getting to know the couples I work with (something different than other DJs–many of whom who just see quantity over quality. Your wedding isn’t just another date on my calendar—it’s a story I get to be part of.
I enjoy crowd-reading and getting the crowd involved either by singing along to a favorite song or playing another banger (this keeps the energy on the dance floor). This ensures your guests will have an amazing time throughout your wedding reception.
I live mix at weddings all of the time; Whether it is a fun remix or edit, be ready to party to familiar songs and some never before released remixes that are only found at So Cal DJ Pros. This makes your wedding different, filled with high energy, super fun, engaging crowds and large smiles from everyone on the dance floor.
As a non-denominational wedding officiant and minister, I proudly serve ALL couples, offering custom wedding ceremonies that can be spiritual, secular, or a beautiful blend of both. Whether they are planning a romantic elopement, an elegant wedding, or a non-traditional celebration, I’ll guide you every step of the way from customizing a custom wedding script to prepping them for the next steps (obtaining their marriage license) etc.
The key word is ALL. I love all my couples the same, whether they are heterosexual (straight) or from the LGBTQ Community–they are all treated with respect and given 100% if I Officiate or DJ their wedding (or if I am lucky—I get to do both)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh boy! There a few staples! I would love to take my best friend to Olivera Street (and try some authentic Mexican Food) in LA which is is always a great place and I would take them to Orange County, obviously Disneyland so they can witness true magic from attractions to food to parades and spectaculars.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are plenty of people. I would love to thank God, who makes it possible for me. I want to thank my parents and fiance (soon to be wife) for always believing in me and supporting my Wedding Small Business, my every expense and every effort to succeed as a entertainer and entrepreneur; I want to thank my friends from afar who have been there to help guide me in this business like DJ’s Brian S Redd (WI), Lou Paris (NY), and Rachel Lynch (CT). I’d like to thank the many YouTubers who help DJs in one way or another from tips, tricks to product reviews and help us with big decision making sometimes (eg: Nick Spinelli and Joe Bunn).
