Meet Mauro Tanaka | Content Creator & College Student

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mauro Tanaka and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mauro, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
As a 23-year-old college student, success is an accomplishment of a desired goal that you set on what you like or love. In academics to graduate with a degree, is an example of a successful collegiate career, As a content creator is to keep creating content and making connections in the field. Doing what you like/love and becoming successful is depending on how much hard work, time, and commitment have you put into your ultimate goal. You can find your success instantly or by building achievements to reach the high level of your desired goals. A good example is that I was a complete failure student during middle school back in Japan. However, in high school, I made sure to get better not only in academics but as a human which ultimately lead me to finish school with a 3.4 GPA including all A’s in the first semester of my senior year. This gave me confidence by getting better and achieving something that I never expected to accomplish.
Accomplishment is a huge boost to push you to do new things. I started making YouTube videos, clothing brands, and getting sponsorships which I like and enjoy. Everyone has different goals, mindsets, and careers. Even living daily can be called successful. Becoming famous or rich does not necessarily define success which usually is a common example of success. Staying consistent and evolving your skill set is extremely important to make you a better person. You may make mistakes, regret, and fail multiple times. However, the hard work will pay off until you are fully satisfied with your goal. Then finally you are the one who can call yourself successful and not the others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My duty is to study as a full-time college student, however, I am also a content creator making YouTube videos and photo editing. As a YouTuber, I mainly talk about my favorite football team the Arizona Cardinals and share thoughts about the team throughout the season with my followers. I started a YouTube channel back in 2019 where I thought if I could share my experience as a fan and build the fan base. My goal is to keep creating content by sharing my experience to show how great a game of football is to watch at the stadium and to influence the next generation that will support the team that I love. I am running for Arizona Cardinals Fan of the Year this season and if I get selected it would be a huge honor to represent my team in front of millions of football fans.
Additionally, I am the founder of my clothing brand as well. The clothing is minimalistic activewear featured as my YouTube merchandise line. It has been my dream to own a merch line so I can give away to friends and family who have been supporting me and the merch being a part of their life. Since the pandemic happened supply and demand made this process extremely difficult, It took 2 years of process to finally giveaway my first ever t-shirt from my clothing line. This has to be one of the best memories in recent years. One thing is not giving up your goal because things may not be your favor every time but you do have to outcome adversities. My goal with the brand is to make an connection global wise to see people wearing my merchandise around the world and make them happy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A 2-day trip to Grant Canyon/Flagstaff, AZ. Visiting the 7000ft altitude where the northern pines are located that something you won’t see in the desert of Arizona. A perfect place to cool down from the desert heat. Get some coffee at the local shop, eat a sandwich, and explore the city of Flagstaff which is known as Drak Sky City for stargazing. Then visit the world heritage and feel the mother nature of the amazing view of the Grand Canyon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my parents for giving me this amazing life and golden opportunity to study in college which is a huge honor and privilege. My friends give me support and joy, and the past of myself for getting through the hard days and not giving up on my life.
