We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Beth Kellee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mary Beth, what do you attribute your success to?
Honesty, thoughtfulness, trustworthy, knowledgable, networking, communication! Keeping in constant contact with our clients, past clients and sphere has helped us to receive referrals that maintain and assist us with our business.
What should our readers know about your business?
I love the non-profit fundraising world or spreading out a picnic to share with strangers at our favorite local wineries. If you ask me what I love doing most, the answer, “Connecting people!” I have always loved connecting the dots and helping others to soar! This manifested early inmy life. At the age of 14 I opened my own school of ballet, and I have continued to find fulfillment teaching in various capacities ever since. My skill and passion for helping people drew me to fund-raising and event planning for the benefit of local charities including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Water for Sudan, United Cerebral Palsy San Diego, and more. I’m at my best when I’m volunteering and giving back. Nowadays I take particular joy in sharing my wealth of knowledge and experience with homebuyers and sellers. I love to step outside of the traditional box when it comes to assisting and guiding our clients home. With a vast knowledge and network to both find off market properties to connecting with others or marketing a home in a unique and different way. No property is too big or too small, we really enjoy working by referral and each client becomes part of our family. I work with my business partner and life partner, Philip. Philip is also a business, tax and real estate attorney, together we are keen negotiators, and easily can divide and conquer. One of us is generally available to assist our clients and friends. It is never easy starting a business with a person you are in a relationship with, we had our ups and downs at the beginning but finally found our groove. We recently were recognized as the TOP 5% of realtors in all of Coldwell Banker worldwide, that is over 94,000 realtors! We are pretty proud and honored to have this recognition.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my gosh, I am fortunate to have several of San Diego’s top chef’s as my close friends. So we would pick them up at the airport and go to Coasterra for Chef Deborah Scott’s famous coconut margaritas and a view to DINE for. Head up north where we would visit the Highland Valley wine region, bring a picinic and hit Espinosa Winery, Cheval, Grant James and Old Julien. There are so many fun places and wineries to discover. We would head up the coast on the 101 and go to the BEST SUSHI on earth, the Wrench & Rodent with Chef Davin and Jessica, maybe head on over to our friends Chef John Carlo and Mario of Blade 1936 and the Mission Avenue Bar and Grill to see Chef Will and enjoy his Matsu (off menu) dining experience. We would one day head down to La Jolla to Piazza 1909 and visit with Roberta and Chef Stefano and drop by Candor to Chef Guiseppe. We can’t allow them to leave town without a delicious Milano dinner from Chef Mario at Ciccia and his wife Francesca. I am a foodie and love to support our great chef’s. Last night would be our beloved GasLamp and a dinner at the Huntress with Chef James and upstairs after dinner drinks and maybe dessert at LUMI with Chef JJ. Brunch spots are Rancho Valencia for sure and boutique shopping on West Lewis at Chateau bel Age and Valerie Lee!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
