We had the good fortune of connecting with Marvin Singh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marvin, is there something you believe many others might not?
I disagree with the statement that your genes are your destiny. Your genes may provide a risk for certain conditions but they are not your destiny. With the use of precision medicine we can learn about what one’s risks are and make strategies to mitigate those risks so that they do not become your destiny. This is the reason why I founded Precisione Clinic. I truly believe that if we understand what our body is made up of, we can understand better how it works and what it needs; and when we do this, we can improve the quality of our lives and live longer, happier, and healthier!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Precisione Clinic is a medical practice that I started to help people understand their health on a more meaningful level by using cutting edge science and technology to help them optimize their health in a way that is currently not offered in conventional medical practice. I am proud that I can spend as much time as I want with patients and truly listen to them, help them, and problem solve with them. Starting a business is never easy. It takes a lot of hard work, time, and passion; but it is amazing when you see the business blossom! I overcame challenges along the way buy staying focused on what was important: helping people and helping them better. My patients are the reason why I do what I do. I did learn that there are always going to be obstacles in business, just like there are in life. There is only one way to handle these things….one at a time. For every problem, there is a solution; and if the solution is not obvious that means it will require some thinking and ingenuity to solve, which should be an exciting thing, not a scary thing. I want people to know that the way we approach health in Precisione Clinic is unlike anywhere else. We utilize highly personalized information from your genomics, microbiome, mitochondrial health, and many other factors and create very specific plans for people based on this information, using lifestyle management and natural therapies as much as possible, whenever appropriate; and we guide our patients through the process every step of the way. My new book “Rescue Your Health” goes over how I do this in much greater detail and shares some real life patient stories so you can see how impactful this approach can be.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love San Diego. There is so much to do and see. I think the San Diego zoo is a must see and we could combine that with a tour of Balboa Park. La Jolla Cove and checking out the sea cave are also must sees in my book. I personally love Del Mar so we would definitely spend some time at the beach, hike Torrey Pines, and make sure we got a table on the sand at Poseiden. For dinner one day I would take him to Cardiff and eat at Pacific Coast Grille so that we can have a beautiful view of sunset while enjoying an amazing dinner. And I can’t forget Torrey Pines Golf course! We could go hit some balls and enjoy an amazing meal at AR Valentien. Another activity might be to go to Coronado and downtown San Diego and hang out in the Gas Lamp District. And if the Padres are playing, we will have to go check out a game!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shout out to Dr. Andrew Weil and the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Weil and the entire faculty helped me become the doctor that I am today and I am forever grateful! I also have to give a shout out to my wife, Crystal and our two wonderful sons, Benjamin and Wellington; without their love and support, I would not have been able to accomplish all that I have!
