We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlon Amaro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlon, what role has risk played in your life or career?
coming from a poor family and a favela resident, my life has always been risky, where i came from to die is a risk that everyone runs. living in such an environment brought me the idea that anything is worthwhile to get out of this social black hole because I have nothing to lose. my career was built on this idea, even when no one believed, I believed, I knew that everything was a a matter of time, even though I knew that time was a luxury that I couldn’t have. so risk is if you gamble on something indefinite, it is betting without being sure, it is living without fear, it is ignoring the chances of going wrong, risk is believing in yourself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
one of my characteristics is to be able to work in any emotional situation, even if I am very sad or unmotivated, I paint, I am proud to be determined and a little obstinate with my work. I managed to be where I am observing others and always working, always trying to reach the quality of those I admire and learning from my mistakes, which were many, it is not easy to get up after a fall, it takes strength to get up, it is I need to be a little crazy to continue being an artist. I need to make people believe in their trust so that they can trust their work. the biggest lesson I learned was that you have to open yourself up to the world, have the courage to dive in and bring something from within yourself and show yourself, trust to have the confidence of others and thus have recognition. the only thing i want the world to know is that i existed, n was another number, i’m Marlon Amaro

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am from Niterói, a city in Rio de Janeiro. Here it is a very plural and multicultural city, it is possible to try all the most famous typical foods in Brazil in restaurants around the city, listen to live music, we have a beautiful theater, our beaches they are a piece of heaven. sure guarantee of fun and rest

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All my thanks go to my mother for being my best example in life, my teacher Fred Carvalho for all the advice, my university for having sheltered me with such affection and to all south american artists who, despite the difficulties, continue to work
